The world has changed in last few years. Every country is dependent on other even if its a superpower. US needs India and nothings going to change. Sangeeta Kanago
The now infamous "macaca" incident was the beginning of the end for the incumbent senator and presidential hopeful George Allen from Virginia. That momentary indiscretion of a seasoned politician in adressing S.R.Siddarth a Virginia resident of Indian origin, led to a series of missteps culminating in a crucial loss of the senate seat to James Webb. With this seat the Democrats became the majority party in the senate by 1 vote. They now control both the house and the senate, and therefore will influence in no small way the national agenda and foreign policy. Donald Rumsfeld the defense secretary has been the first victim of this change in leadership and the Iraq policy is under serious review. The power of the media and the significance of every individual in this great democracy that we call America became apparent.
As long as India doesnt realize our potential and values, we will continue to be a slave country with the so called SuperPower... we need some great leaders(like Indira or Sardhar ) who can lead us in this century which is going to be ours !!!
It is ideal to end the honey-moon with US because one cannot trust US. India Depending on India because of huge market. Even in Nuclear deal, US can dump all the USED/OBSOLETE nuclear reactors in India and make money money. Sonia Gandhi will get commission from the deal in her account in Italy/US.
Bush dreamt of addressing the whole world all the time and the Americans corrected him through this verdict that reminded him the fact that he is not eligible enough to address even the Americans!
So long as Bill Clinton is brought into the equation, things will stay right. Much of what Bush did to enhance ties with India, was an inevitability, due to stronger commercial ties between the countries, and a general progression of what was already in motion from the Clinton-Vajpayee era.
Perhaps honeymoon is too strong a word, but thankfully, idiots like this Viswananthan guy are now in a minority, otherwise India's diplomatic relations and her economy would still be shackled by knee-jerk cold-war mentality, but apparently US-baiting is still the flavor of the day for many such impotent idiots, who seem to forget that India's economy is what it is today expressedly because of her accesss to the US free-market. Then again, Indians are masters at cutting their noses to spite their faces.
