Why do we have to change name?
by Rajesh on Nov 07, 2006 06:39 AM  Permalink

Looking at the cost implications, why do we have to change name?

Let us look at the international companies that have invested huge amount of money in Banglore. Now the change in name would impact these companies as well. In this name changing scenario, will more international companies be tempted to begin investment in the city?

Banglore is now well known for small silicon valley. However, how long now will it take for Bangalooru to be known as silicon valley? Let us wait and watch! All the best to state government!

If you don't want to play along, you might perhaps want to consider going back to Bombay, or Calcutta or Madras or wherever else you came from. Oops those places dont exist anymore! Take it easy guys, I am just kidding ;-)

Change is inevitable

This is pure politics played by father-son duo to increase their vote bank. But this is nothing wrong when other state govts too have done the same. In the meantime, these politicians are not concentrating on the core issues which people face in Bengalooru like high crime rate. People don't stand up to protest against such issues. This issue about name should not be a reason to fight among ourselves rather fight against the politicians.

When will the Karnataka Government change the road names like?

Richmand Road to Richmanduu road
Frazer town to Frazeruu town
Residency Road to Residentu road ,

For people who are not in Bangalore , There are 100000001 english road/place names in the city.

Bengalooru sounds nice
by Chandrashekara on Nov 06, 2006 05:32 PM  Permalink

Hi all,

Why creating such a hype over this change? Still today and from 1000's of years Bangalore is written as "Bengalooru" in kannada. Only in English it is other way. Do tha name of anybody changes with language?

A name should be same in all languages. So, this makeover from Bang to bengalooru should be welcomed by all.

Bangalore or Bangalooru
by Guru on Nov 06, 2006 05:13 PM  Permalink

Hi,

Its a good decision to change the name of bangalore but instead of bangalooru according to the astrology if it would have been better as bangaluru. Because the fastest growing city should not lag then any other city. The CM has changed his name adding one extra letter "a" in his name according to numeralogy, he didnt ask the same to nae bangalore. Its very sad thing.

When the name of Bombay and Madras where why didnt people critized it.Now when the name of place should allways reflect culture and tradition of that place.
This much is not enough to save kannada culture and Heritaze.
