The estimated price to change the name would be Rs. 2000 crores. Are they making fun. People are dying, coz of lacking resources - It will be changed? n traffic will also change? Best of luck to all Banglorians they wasted there money.
Well who cares whether it bangalore or bangalooru. The politians never asked us or had poll on the same.Even if we say we dont like, will it be changed....nooooooooo.They want to bring old culture and language back but same time wants thr child to study in englsih medium......hahahaha
Please get the name correct: its not Bangaloru, it is BENGALOORU. Thats the correct kannada name. This job should have been done half a century ago, after the Britishers left our country. Better late than never.
It is very clear that Indian cities and its people have got their priorities all wrong. It is a fact that we have a colonial past but that does not mean wasting money and resources on things like changing names. More effort should be put to make things better on the ground. Bangalaore or Bengaluru does not make much difference to the common man. LEARN FROM SINGAPORE, it never changed its name to SINGAPURA but is a progressive city.
I have been a hardcore bangalore boy from all through my life. The name change of my lovely city is ridiculous! The govt should look at other issues which are to be taken care of rather than changing names of the cities!
it is a global thing that the names are changed to reflect the reality. For example many names of the cities around the world are changed since the colonialists changed it to suit their tounge. Bangalore should have been changed to Bangaluru long ago....however as the saying goes...better late than never.
Those who write and speak in English , let them call Bangalore as Bangalore, since Bangalooru is mouthfull for some one who does not speak any South Indian languages. In spoken Kannada and written Kannada Bangalore is always called as Bangalooru or Bengalooru. Let the practice continue.
It appears Bangalooru is more appropriate. Since the British have left, Bangalore has grtadually drifted to look like a large Indian village than a British cospmopolitan city. The disorganised traffic, untidy roads, unrepaired pavements, dirty busses whose windows might have cleaned only when it came out of the factory is what makes Bangalooru an appropriate name.
