Bangalore or Bangalooru
by Satish Rao on Nov 02, 2006 02:53 AM

Those who write and speak in English , let them call Bangalore as Bangalore, since Bangalooru is mouthfull for some one who does not speak any South Indian languages. In spoken Kannada and written Kannada Bangalore is always called as Bangalooru or Bengalooru. Let the practice continue.

It appears Bangalooru is more appropriate. Since the British have left, Bangalore has grtadually drifted to look like a large Indian village than a British cospmopolitan city. The disorganised traffic, untidy roads, unrepaired pavements, dirty busses whose windows might have cleaned only when it came out of the factory is what makes Bangalooru an appropriate name.
