Bangalore sounds good
by Pamela on Nov 02, 2006 01:16 PM  Permalink

Changing name of Bangalore is purely a political gimstick. Name Bangalore is known world around, its good only for the people living in karnataka will like Bangaluru and not other wise. The flavour of Bangalore is much appreciated than Bangaluru.

Atleast remove ''u'' from Bangalooru
by King on Nov 02, 2006 01:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Atleast remove the trailing "u" from Bangalooru to make it "Bangaloor". This sounds some what better.

by marutict on Nov 02, 2006 01:06 PM  Permalink

why should any city in India be named the way british wanted to it be.
does british do the same if we pronounce london as some thing like londonnu. There is nothing wrong indoing so as the names of place represent the culture and language of the (place)state

BANGALORE itself is the best
by Amar Hassan on Nov 02, 2006 01:04 PM  Permalink

Dear All,

I oppose changing name of bangalore to bangalooru..
I dont undertands yy this politicians going back through these silly topics, insted of solving various issues revolving round the state.
The name bangalore has lots of respect around the corner of this world and even peoples from street to much high businesss deligates much familer.
We have solid examples of Mumbai and Kolkatha in front of us, which was not able to do anything much hyped as per politicians..

So plz try to solve out rest of problems insted of waisting crores of ruppes for this name change.

There are better things to do...
by Gopu Bhaskar on Nov 02, 2006 01:02 PM  Permalink

Now the tax that bangaloreans or should I say banglooruites pay will go into changing all the places where the name Bangalore is mentioned to Bangalooru.
Dont think non bangaloorites are the only ones who pay, the central govt offices will also have some spending to do.
All this for what ? To push the colonial legacy under the carpet ?. Indians should do better by working hard and doing more than what the British did. Unless we prove ourselves that we can do something on our own, everyone would still believe that we are what we are because it was the British who did it for us, changing names dont mean anything, afterall what there in a name ?

Leave it as it is, which sounds good.
by sasikumar.nair on Nov 02, 2006 01:00 PM  Permalink

if this is the case then all the cities and towns in india have to be changed and spelled according to their own style of language. By now why we need a change for our IT hub. leave it as it is and it sounds good.
