TN has been immersed and almost drowned in Caste politics started by the so-called great EVR and continued by these Dravidian policies, especially the DMK. Now, they have included minoritism as well. The current jokers have banned the da vinci movie in TN, whereas it is running even in Vatican!. JJ tried to capture caste-vote by putting Kanchi Acharya in Jail (I am no fan of his, but jailing him on a bogus case is not the way). I guess most of the brahmins have left either TN or India. The remaining are the suffers. Its just a matter of time before all of them leave. These caste jokers will not have any brahmin to fight and they will start their own in-fighting, which is going to be a very interesting scenario indeed. Reservation is probably reqd. but certainly not 69%. The individuals who had already been benefitted should be tagged *forward* so that his/her children doesn't misuse. Now, former president of this country's children/grand children are enjoying reservation. TN is already drowned and its a matter of time before it happens to India.
Politicians use reservation only for their vote bank. Benefits of reservation are enjoyed mostly by creamy layers of the reserved classes. Those who deserve, are in villages and they do not get it. Politicians are also not bothered. If the politicians are really interested in upliftment of the needy they should concentrate from the primary school level. They should see the children get quality education as those in city, see the root cause of drop outs and extend supports required to prevent drop outs. When they come to higher education they must be able to compete. At that level only merit should be given the priority and financially weaker can be assisted, but not on caste basis. For employment only merit and nothing else. Only that is good for the country and means real upliftment of backward classes. Will this happen in our generation?
During British days , one particular community was favoured for sensitive posts , because they appeared to be honest, uncorruptible. And then the reservation came- As Shakespere says in one of his plays- Greatness was thrust upon certain- the sudden found position without knowing the integrity rerquired -corruption became rampant. Politicians with all favours found a ready partners and TN became so corrupt that everybody who tasted money, forward or backward community became irresistable and spoiled- Is the lesson of reservation -Only Time will tell!

As u said, British favored a few for some so called sensitive jobs and the present state of the country could be attributed to that. How can u blatantly say that upper castes are incorruptible and lower ones are corrupt? U represent the typical feudal mindset of medieval age. Greatness was never thrust on anyone. Anyone can become great by virtue of hardwork and reservation was just a step to correct the historical injustice done to some castes. If u say TN is "so corrupt" what do you say about other states where higher positions are grabbed by the so called higher echelons of societiy, but the states remain misgoverned. If governance is taken as the criteria, then TN is one of the best governed states in the country. As u said only time will tell the progress...

The idea is even if the so called back ward classes are given reservations then also they wont come up. The reason being any body for that matter will come up if he/she has the desire to come up and prove themselves. This is universal truth and that's why we have seen so called people from lower castes like A.P.J Abdul kalam, K.R. Narayanan(former president) raise from the bar. The upression of the upper castes in the southern states has led to lot of great innnovations and improvements for countries like america only. The reasoon is clear. Beleive it , out of 40% of the indians working in NASA 35% are from the southern states of India. They were declined equal oppurtunity here but have proved/proving still in places where merit alone speaks.
there only seems to be a rush to prove that all resrvations being given are all for good.. the question of giving reservations on caste basis is really another partition of India which shouls not be encouraged.. reservations based on economic status is what is needed.. not on caste basis.. i heard a joke somewhere, where a Brahmin goes to an interview and he says he is BC.. surprised, the interviewer asks, how?, then he says, Brahmin Caste.. nowadays, barhmins have come to become outlaws and backward..
I am surprised that people accepting reservation is 69% inTN. the fact is there are certain more stuff like quota for Indian freedon fighters, Tamil freedom fighter etc, military etc I am sure this is not covered in 69%. So in reality the quota is more than 69%.
But then who can tell. I got 93% and my friend got 64 and he got in premier institute and not me. We studied in same school and our fathers work in same office in same grade. Why is this discrmination. NOW RELIGIOUS QUOTAS FOR MINORITIES ARE INTRODUCED. Death of meritocracy. Long live Reservation and suppression of others.
It is really pity to see people who dont even understand the difference between backward classes and backward castes are raising their voices against the reservation. These upper castes people should first understand how the 'Backward Classes' tag is given to a section of people of the society.
The Brahmins are really bothered and tensed only because their domination is being erased out slowly and not because of their alleged inequality. If they talk of equality, it is a real farce and nothing else.
Reservation is must for the OBC. See the statistics of employment in govt and pvt firms. The roots of reservation are basically in Hindu Religion so dont blame Indian Constitution. Entire world admires the Indian Constitution except bramhin and NON-BCs in India. Why BC is not allowed to be a priest in Hindu Temple? Why industrialist ask govt for subsidy in purchasing land and many things?Upper Caste dont want BCs to come upward. They resist them from occupying Higher positions. Even today, the Bramhin in Pvt and Govt and in Insttitutes, discriminate about the BCs.I also suffered from this discrimination.

You are wrong. It is not Brahmins versus BCs. For example, in Papparapatti and Keeripatti do any brahmin prevent Dalit from becoming Panchayat Chief?
We better pack our bag and baggage to settle in USA or move to other states in India and will work hard to help that country / state to flourish. We have to keep in mind "Dushtanai Kandaal Dhoora Vilagu".
