Reservation for the needy
by Rajagopalan on May 31, 2006 09:12 PM

Politicians use reservation only for their vote bank.
Benefits of reservation are enjoyed mostly by creamy
layers of the reserved classes. Those who deserve,
are in villages and they do not get it. Politicians are also not bothered. If the politicians are really interested in upliftment of the needy they should
concentrate from the primary school level. They should
see the children get quality education as those in city, see the root cause of drop outs and extend supports required to prevent drop outs. When they come to higher education they must be able to compete.
At that level only merit should be given the priority and financially weaker can be assisted, but not on caste basis. For employment only merit and nothing else. Only that is good for the country and means real upliftment of backward classes. Will this happen
in our generation?
