'the fat duck'
by malvinderm on May 30, 2006 01:11 AM  Permalink

the whole article and subsequent description had a feel of a very famous english filmmaker am forgetting his name but he makes these surrealistic films which makes sense to vey few the restaurant and menu sounds just like that only makes one go into diffrent realm of thought process.

Pompous rubbish
by Sridhar Chari on May 29, 2006 08:00 PM  Permalink

Just one line... Whoever has heard of the emperor's new clothes. Food is meant to be enjoyed and eaten not to looked at for the purpose of enjoyment. Apparently elite food means meagre portions, delayed service, unnecessary gizmos, slow service and deliberate waiting period and plenty of snobbery from a country that is renowned for its fatty insipid food. Just sample lovely lemon and green tea mousse, lovely bread and unpasteurised butter, have the orange jelly before the beetroot jelly, what is teh point behind this mindless hypocrisy?
And Just who are the 600 chefs who vote this the best dining place in the world. People who churn out the same pompous rubbish. Why do Indians have to go to such ridiculous lengths to show that they have arrived?

Irony
by Venkatesh on May 29, 2006 07:58 PM  Permalink

When half of our Indian population lives under 2 dollars a day, when half of them can't afford to eat three times a day, I certainly couldn't enjoy this article. It would be interesting to know how these poor families manage to live with whatever they have. It will be an eyeopener to others.
On Behalf of my poor Brothers !!!
