First of all.. Congrats and Wishing all the very best in future to the Students and the Management Staff of the School.
But the main point is.. if you select the students based on merit, rather than, training even the students who struggle, it will be irrevelant to the society. Management can take all the praises showered on them. but i question the purpose and goal of the school. if you try to provide coaching only to the already brilliant students, i cannot help but believe.. this is not the best school, nor should be potrayed as one.
LFJC in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh is the best because it has the unique distinction of sending around 50 students each year to the IITs in the last ten years.
Thrilled to read this news item. But, alas , what is the use? I am sure most of these bright students are not from the OBC communities. They may still have to struggle in future.
With less marks and more convenient parentage, they may have done better in life.
I thhink in 1995 Mr Satish took over principal, that was my first year in DAV Gopalapuram's IX std.
This school has a legacy of outstanding performance by its students, and the credit goes to all its teachers.
Though Mr. C Satish turned it around further after becoming principal and each year set higher targets and achieved successfully. I remember when our 1999 batch passed out created history and since then consistantly set new levels.
I wish we had Mr. Satish like HODs & principals in many more educational/competitive institutes.
Good to see theses kind of scores , But soon students with 40% less score will be seen in IIT and these guys will be standing out. Thanks to arjun singh and prime minister who happened to be a learned man .....

Lakshman,
This is all misconstrued information. I am a DAVian too, '97 ! But hey, Sri Sankara Senior Sec. School and PS Senior Sec School (both from Chennai) share the highest total this time - NOT DAV G. !
Being an alumni of DAV, although I am proud of such an achievement, I am sad when i see my school excelling only in academics but not giving much focus to other fields...DAV might be the best in acads but I disagree with the Principal when he says the school gives as much importance to personality development. DAV is yet to match certain other shools in Chennai when it comes to producing stars in various other fields such as sports, music, fine arts and so on. In that sense, DAV has to be much more than just a school that churns out the best academic results year on year.

Hi sharath ram,
Dont you think its absolutely baseless to say that DAV might have proven itself academically, but that PSBB produces better finished products? I dont think there is any way you can substantiate your claim. Are there very many PSBBians who have excelled in non-academic fields, especially because of the encouragement given by the PSBB? I think DAV strikes a good balance between academic and non-academic activities. And it would probably make better sense to emphasize more on academics at the school level. Personality development is inevitable when a student joins one of the IITs or BITS and meets people of different ethos and background. And for this, high school education plays a very important role. Please do not try to rob the school of the credit it deserves. Kudos to DAV. Am a proud x-student of this very school.
Hi, it was quite an interesting piece, especially since The Outlook had a few years ago, rated Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Schools as the 3rd best in India and the only school from Tamil Nadu in the top 3. Call me biased, but as an alumni of PSBB, i beg to differ with your article. i would like to point out that this article calls DAV gopalapuram as the best school in TN just on the basis of marks. But isn't a school supposed to cater to the overall development of the student? i do not want to cast aspersions on the track record of DAV or its students(past and present) but having studied in PSBB and having seen fellow PSBB'ians leave for other schools including DAV, i believe that PSBB is the best school in TN on an overall basis. they may not produce a lot of toppers as DAV gopalapuram, but the finished article in the long run is what counts.i would compare both schools to diamond mines, but the PSBB diamond when fully cut and processed is a better diamond. Cheers PS: hope i havent started a school war...

I am also an alumni of PSBB having passed out in 1990.Atleast during that time students were rated only on the basis of marks and overall development was only on paper. Infact students in the secondary school were graded and segregated into different classes only based on their marks. Does this contribute to overall development? It only degraded their performance as it made them feel inferior. There is no difference between PSBB and DAV. In fact DAV is better as it is a not for profit organisation but PSBB is run like a family business...maybe it makes better business sense!!!
