by sundar on May 10, 2006 12:06 PM  Permalink

While M.F.Hussain is all free to glorify nudity, why alone hindu gods.Would he dare do such a painting featuring Jesus or Allah? Why then this hypocrisy of glorifying nudity with religious bias?

Hussain's liberty
by Vibhuti Mall on May 10, 2006 12:05 PM  Permalink

The explanation given by the artist was quite absurd.
I don't think anyone has the right to hurt religious sentiments in the name of 'art'.
If people make a hue and cry for Phrophet Mohemmad's cartoons, why can't this be protested?

Ajanta, Ellora and Khajuraho date ages back. Neither he nor we belong to that period. Now there is a sensitivity in the mind's of people.

Why does M.F Hussain always have to paint Hindu Gods and Godesses in such a light?

If that is so,then y did he drew only on GODS of particular Religion??? y were his other Religion paintings fully covered!!!y cant he drew the same on them too? as he said the images in temples n caves are PURE and Uncovered but they are not on any God and also not vulgar like his(naked womand sitting across on Hanuman Tail...)
should behave according to his age
Hindus Respect all Religions coz they believe any GOD as they them selves have innumeriable, which is the weakness these people taking advantage of...

Whom do you compare yourself to?
by Amit on May 10, 2006 11:50 AM  Permalink

I would like to know whom does Mr. Husain compare himslef to?

Does he compare himself to those selfless artists who carved at Ajanta and Ellora, I dont think they did it for money or fame and one would have to travel back in time to find out why they did so? The fact that the images are in caves may mean they did not intend then, for everyone to see it.

Then the human mind too was pure and uncovered, is he trying to make our minds pure, in todays date when most of our minds are filled with filth and dirty images, what was the need to paint a nude India.

I think this man paints and does controversial things only to be in the limelite, he is a fame monger, We Indians treat our nation as our mother, would some one like his or her mothers naked potrait? that is the question Mr. Husain should have asked himself before plunging blindly into such a bas####ly act. If he is not doing it for fame then he sure is a tinkle head.
If he thinks he is helping create a great Indian 'Composite' culture, tell him to keep such things in his house and not showcase it to the world, the world belongs to everyone and some mad man cannot try to change it for what he sees as innocence and maturity
