It is easier to say than taking initiatives and doing things ourselves.
We all Indians share equal responsibility for the current state of our country whether it is good or bad.
I would like to thank the author for opening a discussion about "Rest world view about India" but we need to take initiatives to make our country better rather than just discussing.
dear sir.. i appreciate ur concern for india...but in all modesty i ask u what have you done for the well being of the nation..wat was ur contribution.. u simply seem to compare the west with India..but i think there is a point to be noted that india is a very old country dating back to 5000 years(you know better sir i am just learning to know india better)..and we have come through so many rigours... Be it politics be it the commmon public....its been very diffcult to come to this postion what we are..and we are still improving by the day..and we have just started building india...its just 25-30 years of modern india we are looking at.... We have started from absolute zero..in 1947 and we are looking atan 8% increase in econmy every year.. so lets remain optimistic.. these are the thoughts of a novice who is still learning to know what life is...so it would be a learning experience if u can correct my statements or share ur thoughts further.. regards dinesh dinesh_space@rediffmail.com
sorry folks - why do you publish such unimaginative piece of "so called" article...there is nothing nothing new in this - all cliched. Just wasted my 10 minutes...
request, please refrain from floating such artlicles again...
Nice and intresting article. But i was surprised that Claude did not mention one thing which i expected first in the Top 10.If i had to mention one thing that i hate the most in India, it has to be caste based discrimination. India is seen as a colurful country from outside but caste based discrimination and casteism remain a thorn in the flesh when one admires India. No other country in the world has a society deeply divided along caste lines, although its not conspicuous.
The other thing i hate about India is the 'powers that be'politicians. Politicians who absolutely dont have any agenda other than their own good and obsession with the taste of power; Politicians who just dont have any vision for this country; Politicians who have runied this country for more than 50 years and denied this truly great nation her rightful place amongst the superpowers of the world.I will not totally blame the bureaucracy because if politicians lack the will and vision what can be expected of the 'babus'?
Last but not the least, the worst urban infrastructure; poor and badly encroached roads with no pedestrian paths, lack of basic amenities and totally uncontrolled development.
I fully agree with the author. just today morning i was thinking that our delhi chief minister wants to copy the traffic flow & parking fee structure same as Singapore, but these are only ways to get the money from public. there are other good things of Singapore which should be copied first, such as cleanliness, there is no water blockage during rains, no power cuts, public conveyance is excellent. they should 1st concentrate on that rather then thinking on how to extract public money.
We are satisfied with what we have here in India. Before criticising India, checkout what horrific deeds other countries have done and you will realize how great India is, inspite of all difficulties.
When US(and its stupid allies) bomb Iraq, Afghanistan, it's to avoid terrorism... when India wants to do the same against terrorists in Kashmir or Pakistan, "India has to exercise constraint"
You are right about all the points that you have mentioned in your article. But dont you think all these 10 or even 100 points can be summerised into 2 main headings? The first being POLITECIANS and the second being POOR PUBLIC BEHAVIOUR as I would like to put it.If these two things are sorted out our country will be the best in the whole world. I live abroad and believe me all coutries have their own problelms.Inspite of all the problems I strongly believe that "sare jahan se achcha Hindustan hamara" Jai Hind.
