10 things I hate about India
by Rajnarayanan Veeraiyan on Jun 23, 2006 01:06 PM  Permalink

Hi ... I agree 100 % with the author. Spedcial rate for White skin is really termed as racism. I visted several Europian countries, But never got harassed as being Indian.

guarded remark in pt.8. ''Neglect for the environment:''
by Muhammad Mansur on Jun 23, 2006 01:01 PM  Permalink

You made a sweeping statment writing "While Indians are the most conscious people as far as personal hygiene goes..".A Chennaite,I'm unfortunate to see ppl defecating in main roads early in the morning & have also seen some standing over adyar bridge & urinating into the river below.Garbage is not thrown INTO the big Onyx dustbins.Ponds invariably have plastic bags, thermocoal, ice cream cups/sticks floating on them.Mosquitoes, buses emanating thick black-smoke,TeRrIbBlE RoAdS,okay drainage systems & what not.Foreign Tourists get to see so much filth strewn around.(Those guys are so fussy abt environmental clealiness, hygeine etc;but waste paper, plastic, cans a lot & dump "kachra" in other countries). The thing is very few CARE.The general feeling ppl have is "its enough if my house is clean".The higher ups(authorities) need to set examples & be reachable first of all.The poor need a genuine promise from the government that they WILL see much better times in near future.Without hope/desire, no one will take another step further.India must be an all rounder i.e.not only in IT,Steel,Textiles;but should also earnestly look into such issues as well. Jai Hind(to all the clean places in India)

Holidays
by Sridhar on Jun 23, 2006 12:59 PM  Permalink

While the article is mostly accurate, I disagree with the author on the number of holidays we take. I think we take far fewer holidays than the West. While they take holidays for Thanks Giving day, this day, that day and a lot for Christmas, our holidays and more spread out and the festivals are a great tool for community gatherings and fun.

Highly infusing article.
by Jayaram on Jun 23, 2006 12:57 PM  Permalink

Dear author,
I found this article very impressive as you have enlighten some of the young in the country, who are neglecting this country. The main reason for existence of these problems is Indians are easy goers, they just need basic needs, no matter, to where the rest of the world is heading towards. Whether its good attitude or bad, i have no idea. Atleast at this moment its not good attitude since everyone has to feel some responsibility.

thanks once again,

looking forward to see such more articles

hummm..we all talk about hate and love but we dont talk about out contribution to make india better. NRI\\\'s those who crib about india easily forget when they come back to india , they too forget all the displine they show off outside india...they too behave like normal indians. have any one of us tried getting RTO license withiut the agents ...i am sure none of us !! just blaming the system does not work..system is run by all of us. First we need to improve ourselves.
We talk about poor infrastructure and we talk about traffic. but its we who use our cars do go dwon the road instead of walking. We want to show off out BIG car , even if it is empty or even if it occupies half of the road.
