Hate India and Indian women
by Hate India on Jun 23, 2006 02:24 PM  Permalink

As a recent victim of a false anti-dowry law, I had first hand experience of the the corrupt indian police and legal system. According to this law, indian women can falsely implicate the husband and his entire family (including distant cousins) and they are JAILED WITHOUT TRIAL. This is a violation of their human rights. I have nothing positive to say about India anymore after it's anti-husband laws have ruined my career, my marriage and my life. I will do ANYTHING to hurt India's interests at any level i can. Who needs a motherland which is cruel and insensitive to its citizens.

India is the light house of the world
by Ramesh.G on Jun 23, 2006 02:12 PM  Permalink

Yes, as you have mentioned, In India there is corruption, nepotism population explotion, pollution and all the negetive aspects .But India has that spiritual energy which is not found in any other country. There is going to be a Spiritual Revolution in India which will transform the decaying era to a glorious era. This happens once in 5000 years. This transformation is not directly documented because there is no written history beyond 2500 years. The ultimate truth about the creator and his creation is not known to the world today. People today lack the true knowledge about .the supreme almighty and his creation. There is no authenticity or clear justification for what is written in the major religious scriptures. The Supreme soul Shiva(Father of all the 550 to 700 crores of souls )descends in the corporeal body of Manu,Prajapitha,Adam,Adham and Adideva in Farrukhabadh district of INDIA and brings about the transformation of entire world. The supreme soul in assocation with powerful souls lay the foundation for all the religions ,coustoms and traditions in the world..The entire world will witness this mega event in the days to come. Thus "INDIA will be the light house for entire world

10 things I hate about India

9.Traffic:
I hate when people comment about Indian traffic and say that they just cannot understand why there are so less traffic accidents inspite of driving/using the roads with out rules(ofcourse there are rules!). Just using commonsense avoids many traffic accidents. And that's exactly what Indians do, perhaps even an Indian cow knows to use commonsense while sharing the road with commuters. I have felt the same as you have when I first visited India after being in the UK. I still feel "how come I wasn't that scared to use the roads all those years while I was in India and now after leaving it I'm scared of Indian traffic".It's just how our brain adjusts to the environment. Now that my brain has no work dealing with lots of combinations and permutations it has lost its power to deal with complex situations. Well the solution is just to use the INDIAN road as much as possible and let the brain get adjusted to the complex situations. That's all!

It's good that you have never regretted settling in India. Ofcourse one is really freee in India.

5. Paranoia about maps:
I suppose the fact that Arunachal Pradesh shares lots of its borders with neighbouring countries justifies the fact why it's maps are publicly available. If you haven't forgotten, a few years back there was a rain of AK47s in West Bengal, very near to Arunachal pradesh, accidentally out of place, which were supposed to be for some other northeastern state where terrorism is being abetted by foreign (probably foreign religious ) forces. Moreover the maps available on Google earth don't show anything more than the terrain of India. They just show the rivers, water bodies, and mountains and mountain ranges. Noteven political boundaries. Also, the highest scale of map one could easily acess from any Survey of India is 1:10,000 and some maps people can easily buy from respective Survey of India office of that region. Ofcourse some are restricted maps b'se of security reasons.

Absolutely Right
by Rajesh Ramasubramanian on Jun 23, 2006 01:59 PM  Permalink

Well written and rightly mentioned.

I live in the UK for the past 3 years and as much as I love India, I have realised how much we need to progress.

I am trying from my end to implement a change at a grassroot level. I think a lot of our problems have to do with illiteracy and over population.

I would add one more problem to the list ...."Poor Infrastructure". Take it airports, stations, or the general planning of the city. It is very poor and sub standard.

Even new constructions or new makeover in the airports do not have the passion for perfection. You see mismatches in tiling, paints, etc.

If someone criticises or tries to make a point, he is quickly branded as a traitor. All we do and feel happy about is our great Indian culture!

WE NEED TO CHANGE!

10 things I hate about India

Dear Author,

Nice column. It does point out many negative points about India. I would like to add some justification to the authors remarks about India.
First of all, the power cut. Ofcourse powercuts are too much in India. But, the reason why there wasn't any powercut in US during Newor Leans cyclones could be all the power cables run underground(which makes US developed and India not so DEVELOPED). We have experienced powercuts in some parts the UK for about 2/3 days because of HUGE rains and some people have to spend their nights in pubs to keep them warm with candles.Ofcourse the power supply cables are underground here too.

4. Discrimination against the white tourist:
Oh well! this happens even with auto rikshaws(very fondly called as "put puts". Perhaps these people are trying to get back all the wealth many other countries robbed from India.

I shall continue my response in another message.

You are absolutely right

You have just left out something which is very common in India,ie casteism which is wide spread both in rural and urban india. We in India are divided into 3categories which are the 1.forward castes 2.SC/ST's 3.Other back ward classes.Nasty comments are passed against each other by all the categories and especially in this web site. The forward castes claim(false notion)the credit for having put the Indian economy on a fast track the SC/ST's think they have been expolited by forward castes and so they want reservations. Both of them are so very wrong. Most of us Indians think that by carrying a mobile in our pockets and working in a IT or a BPO as a great achievement, little do we realise that the world outside is far superior to us and we will take ages to even reach that stage let alone overtaking countries like USA,UK,CHINA & JAPAN etc. Please add casteism as your 11th point.
