Mostly I agree with the Claude and can add few more points to that but this is not about article, the people who are discouraging the author forgot that Claude does not want to smear the image of country, but is just presenting few facts; if we work to improve those things in India it would be even better place to live and be proud of.
I agree with all 10 points. At the end you said " Apart from the above, India is an incredible place and I have never regretted, even for one day, to have settled here". I wonder why? What is that made you settled here? Don't you miss the western comforts?
About the discrimination -- it is everywhere my friend, even in the United States. They may not charge you extra dollar if are a non- white, but people on several occasions make you really unconfortable if you area foreigner. I really want to know why you settled in India.
Next thing woould be people hate critisism. They think they are always right and others are always worng. We don\'t like to correct ourselves. I love India and I am proud to be an Indian but I think those are the areas we can improve on. Thanks for your comments.
i agree with the article. it is not just agreement. until we stop descriminating people we can't come out as winners. we the young people have to vote and elect only those who have capabilities to overcome the ills affecting our great India
Though I appreciate the points mentioned by the author, I disagree to just 1 point, ie., all the 10 points are not just 5% of the bad things in India...it constitutes more than 5%... I read few of the comments...and I think people donot understand the difference between patriotism and accepting the facts. Guys...am too a patriot guy, but I accept the fact that India has lots of shortcomings...
Your mail is the typical nonsense one reads everyday. Every excuse on why we are inefficient and why we are rude (being but characteristics of our great diversity) is part of your mail. I think Claude's article is spot on, people like you pull our country down with your defensiveness and your blethering on the much weary "we are great, we are unique" theme. Face it champ: we are amongst the poorest countries, the dirtiest, the least efficient... accept the facts, and begin rectifying things, rather than trump up the 0.005% of our population that has begun to make its mark on the international stage.
What about reservations sir? may be you never had a chance to experience the discrimination. India is the only country in the world to discriminate against its own people by their birth. It branded some as forward casts (for sins supposedly done by their great great great grandfathers!)and denies education, jobs and promotions to them! and says that merit is not affected!
