You may have hundreds of reasons to hate India. What have you done to improve Our India? Many of you who travel abroad, compare India with other countries. There is no point in doing this. There is one saying: Each one is right in his own place. So also. Each Country is right in its own place. Those who hate India, should never come to India. Ask the Christians of Goa. They have thousand reasons to hate India and love Portugal. They hate everything in India. They hate the Indian languages, food, history, the lifestyles, festivals and even the sight of an Indian. Do they have history of their own, beyond the point when conversions took place?
Same way, if you criticize all or any of the things going on in India, you need not come to India. India is a Great Country for Indian.
We have a system that is a reflection of fears and prejudicies of mindsetd of its creators (of law, rules & regulations). We are multi religion not secular & each religion is more of an emotional space than an spiritual once. Thus we have different queues and things like that(reservation) in other domains of public life. The system is not built on some concrete abstract theory of performance, productuvity, & decency. It perpetuates biased individuals to run the system and everybody is at their mercy. There was a reason for ruling class to give India a set of rules/policies & then there was a trend that was followed by aping the concept of nation creation. Indian as people, civilization are growing slowly as a collective race. This has to do with education. Newer generations are better. We always lost our cream to abroad in past. Democracy in India has kept this country intact, but benign dictatorship like singapore or that of china/hongkong is better than chaotic democracy.
The author seems to have an excellent grasp on both the faces of India - beautiful and dark. I agree all the things the author dislikes are worth paying attention to. But discrimination......I have a different view. If we are charging a white tourist 10 times more for viewing a monument, then they charge 3 times more fees to Indian (and other international) students for admitting in their universities.
Get rid of those corrupt politicians who has been ruling us for decades.Let us get together, all who are like-minded,and work out a solution for it.Atleast we could make an attempt. All we do is talk and talk although we have been aware of these drawbacks long back. But do we really bother!
The assertion made by the author are not completely true.
One reason why foreigners are charged more is due to the currency differential. It does not hurt them a lot. When we travel to the UK or the US, I am sure the person who posted this write up does not pay in Indian rupees. One has to pay 40 to 80 Rs. for a dollar or a pound !!!
Also, many foreign countries strike off visa requirements and also the visa fees for various other developed nations. India does not benefit from this parity and Indians have to pay a lot by way of hefty consular fees. Not to mention the fact that these hefty fees are forfeited so many times because of refusal of entry clearance/denial of visa.
His or Her views on Indian should be taken into consideration and every Indian should find a way out to bring a new goverance to have a control on the following :
(1) Population (2) Water Resources (3) Pollution (4) Energy ( Electricity) (5) Poverty (6) Road/Rail Facility (7) Education/Children Growth (8) Equality
With the present politicans, we cannot see any major change in laws or it will another 50 years to see a small change. If you check the court cases, there are many lakhs cases pending still for judgement. I remember some cases which were put before 8-10 years on financial/chit companies in TamilNadu were still waiting for a judgement and the promoters of such companies were cool for last 10 years.
I feel that the above said basic requirement of a country should be govern under the goverance of President of India or Privatise them so that the improvement will come up for India.
i read this and came to know how the author is a pessimist. Instead of this subject if he would have wrote '10 things to change India ' it will be better. If anyone is lacking of anything we should encourage them to get rid out of that. We always tell India is like this and don't take anysteps to change that. We have to make India a clean and good country. Here we lack in education and think something to overcome the situation. Instaed of saying not nice do something to make it good.
..10 points were well summarised..even though it might be difficult for most of us 'proud indians' to accept them but they are absolutely right..
one more point i would like to add is the the so called 'leg pulling' thats a part of life here..ppl just cant see some person/company/organisation progress and need to put a spanner in their work..
