discrimination against skin color
by Mano on Jul 19, 2006 10:36 AM  Permalink

The points are excellent. You have observed a lot of things.
I think it is not discrimination against skin color or something. By looking at a white man here in India people knows that he/she is a foreigner and they knew that they are rich and foreigners don't know the local price or rates. That is why they try to charge more. This is a kind of cheating; these people wouldn't care about India's image. Normally many people would try to be nice with foreigners unlike in Paris. I had horrible experiences in Paris people are arrogant over there; so far I didnt see this behavior anywhere else.

Traffic, it is intrusting in India, I think with the available infrastructure and the number of vehicles on the road, if you follow traffic rules you might not reach your destination any time soon.

I feel corruption will be in place in India as long as there are people (illiterate) who sell they vote for a bottle of liquor and money and give they vote based on the caste of the candidate who stood in the election.
For example: Take a MP or MLA who stood in an election, spends money like anything to buy voter. Assume he wins. How can he get his money back??? He has to do some scams. For exa

one thing I hate about India
by murthy on Jul 18, 2006 01:30 AM  Permalink

the one thing I hate about india is the explotation of some sections of the people by the govt of india on the name of religion in the name of reservations.

in AP poor SC STs fee is paid by the govt , but a poor OC has either to get a loan or can't join the course.(this is in case he gets a seat after SC, ST , BC , women reservation)

Even my SC friends who are not poor enjoy the schlorships.

vote bank politics. exploitation of some sections by the govt of India

Higher rates
by Shiva on Jul 17, 2006 08:00 AM  Permalink

There's nothing to complain about paying more at Taj Mahal or any other attraction. The Indians have the right to view it,we cannot charge them a higher rate,as you know the economic scenario in the nation. So,when a white= Foreigner (even Africans visit Taj) has the money to fly to India,he can afford to pay more that goes into maintaining the place.

One important point u missed I think !!!
by Sandeep on Jul 16, 2006 06:00 PM  Permalink

Hi,
First of all, I'm sorry, I read this article very late, So I don't know how many people would read it. It was really an awesome article giving a gist of problems India faced. Though, the root cause of these problems has not been mentioned. The main cause in my view is the 'attitude'!!, yes, I think it is we who have to change first. Politicians, Bureaucrats rouse from the same society where we also were brought up. So their attitude is nothing but our attitude. They do something because we do the same thing in some way or the other. One obvious solution to develop attitude into our children, next generation Indians is to change our Education system. Though ancient Hindu education system was very good in inforcing character into one's mind, our current education system(imbibed by Britishers, I suppose) is just a source for bread winning. We have to know why we are learning something, what really interests us, what is our main aim in this life(a long term vision). It should not be the case that I'm forced to learn something though I won't be knowing what value addtion it does to my life, my interests.
Kindly give your views on this.

10 things I hate about India.
by Vaidyanath on Jul 16, 2006 04:59 PM  Permalink

I donot hate anything in India. I hate only the self centred, selfish, corrupt families like Deve Gowda and the like who are worst than the people who have been termed terrorists.

You have all round India, Deve Gowdas, Lalu's, Lal's, so on an so forth who are the real threat to the country who ultimately bring hatredness.

Playing with peoples sentiments, amassing wealth, treating the territories as their personal properties all needs to be stopped else there will not be just 10 but 100s of things each one will hate about India.

With regards,

Vaidyanath

Hi, ur article is definitely an eye-opener for an average Indian who can very well contribute in their own capacity to the improvement of this nation.Instead, of putting arguements about the points you have mentioned...i wd just mention one thing that what India lacks is good marketing skill. We are an amazing diversified nation..with lots n lots of natural beauty and historical structures..If India adopts an image of one-stop tourist destination and put all efforts to achieve that goal..believe me most of our problems will be solved.
I am an Indian who currently lives away from its homeland and hence have penned down whatever I have felt so far.
