Before saying anything else I must mention here that I am not a racist. I believe in Human Equality. I value people for their virtues not for their color, cast or creed.
I do agree with 9 things out of ten which make people (Indian as well as foreigners) feel bad about India. One thing which I dont agree is that of discrimination against whites. If people behave differently against whites it is only because of cultural differences and an image of whites throughout the world. India is not the only country where whites are supposed to pay higher rates to access monuments, tourist places or anything or place where specific fee is required.
I am an Indian and currently living in Thailand. I have noticed that this is a common practice here too. Whites are being charged more than Thais. It is only because of the difference in the value of there money. And I strongly believe that it is not wrong.
A poorest American, English, French, German or any other western becomes richest dramatically when he visits a third-world country. It is only because of difference of value of their money (US$ 1000= 39000 Thai Baht App.). I have encountered many foreigners here who admit that with

I truely believe in what you have said in your column. I guess you have really seen and gone through each and every corner of India. May be our so called "Leader" should read this article and learn how to improve the conditions.
I think the author must be completely crazy that in spite of being a foreigner, apparently from France, he wants to settle in India...this land is more like the great piece of **** that God dropped on the world, yes I know I'm Indian, but have to call a spade a spade..
After living with my foriegner wife for the last one year in India, I have seen discrimination against foriegners in all walks of life.
1. I had to pay Rs 750 for her entry in Taj. 2. Whenever she goes out in an auto, the drivers always ask for more money than what it shows on the meter. 3. Whenever she goes shopping alone, the shopkeepers tell her much higher prices. 4. She goes out wearing normal outfits (indian definition of "Normal"). But she has to avoid the people staring at her all the time. 5. The guys think that since she is not an Indian, she must be promiscuous. They try to approach her all the times.
This is sick. It is absolutely frustrating for both of us.
yes i agree the comments about the ten bad thingsin india. i personaly feels that the conditions will never improve so soon . even after getting independence from british rulers we have not got the independence from the local babus and present administration about the redtapism. example if u visit the R.T.O [ REGIONAL TRANSPORT OFFICE] LOCAL COURTS, DISTRICT COLLECTORATE OFFICES , LOCAM MUNICIPAL/PANCHAYAT/ CORPORATION OFFICES you will find out tht you cannot get your work done without the middle man with hefty bribes. so it is not going to improve it may get still worst day by day. so you have to get it accostomed , and don't worry be happy like otherhundred crore indian public.
We all love India. I agree with all point,but I would like to add some other points.
1)To pass all responsibility to other & especially politician.Who are they? All of them we have elected. 2)Poor value of human life 3)Religious mindset 4)Hesitation for any change 5)Attitude of person in power & rich people. 6)Devalueying own quality & imatating poor qualities of western world.Intendedly neglecting good qualities of western world. 7)Negative attitude towards fellow human being, especially poor & weak
