Safety measure is not the only responsible of organization. The employee have to co-operate on the same too. I can say it's more individual then the company. In India, Men are hunger about a girl. All are crazy to see beauty of the girl. Girls should take care of their safety whether 24/7 or normal working hours. Girls should not trust any one except her family member.
BPO industry has brought huge opportunities to India and one of the principal beneficiaries are the educated young people of India who find monetary and career growth that was unavailable just a few years back.
While a murder is a serious crime, why are all your headlines showing it as "BPO Murder" or "BPO Crime"? These people could have been working for a government department or a manufacturing company or a hospital? What it has got to do with BPO?
Headlines create images and if used continuously, get ingrained on the reader's mind. This reader could be a potential customer from a foreign land or a parent of a young woman who is about to find a job in a BPO company?
This is really sad thing to happen. Other than IT, where working hours are late into the night, BPO was another source of employment where work hours are different than normal. And both these areas provided lots of employment to women and were supported by parents inspite of the work schedule because these were considered safe. The bad effect I feel about these cases will be that parents will now feel unsafe and discourage their daughters from joining BPO's and like, out of fear for the worst. I completely blame the company for these happennings. It is their duty to ensure the safety of its employees. In this case, it is quite likely that the colleague must have made some sort of advances in the past also, though unsuccessful. A proper counsel within the company that hears to sexual harassment might have encouraged the victim to expose the culprit and lead to his resignation and maybe avert what happenned. I wonder how many of these small BPO's that operate in nooks and corners have these basic facilities. And the most important thing I feel is capital punishment to the culprits, which should be made public, so that such incidents do not occur in the future.

Please grow up. Stop blaming women for unpardonable crimes done by men. Do you want us to ape the middle east and wear burkhas to work?

the kind of insensitivity shown by you is to me one of the causes for incidents like this. Instead of taking responsibility its much easier to blame others for the kind of dress they wear the way they talk and so on. Its time we learn to grow and introspect. If someone decides to dress provocatively does that mean that they should be offended?
BPO murder... It's not related to B'Lore. Pl.Be careful all over the country & all passion gals. Jara sochoo,O auvrat aapka bahen hito... Please give respect to our gals & Ladies... we are living in Heritage India... Ravi.
Age discrepancy in one place it is mentioned 25 years
"A city-based call centre employee was today arrested in connection with the sensational murder of his 25-year-old woman colleague after he confessed to it, a senior police official said. "
In another place 32 years...
"A 32-year-old woman employee of a Bangalore call centre was found murdered on a national highway near Sakleshpur in Karnataka's Hassan district on Wednesday, a senior police official said. "
The 'sensational murder' link says the lady was 32 yrs old with 32 stab injuries whereas the "Bangalore: Call centre employee murdered" says she was 25 yrs old with 25 injuries. Request rediff to review and launch the article into their site.
However, Bangalore needs to wake up to this call...
