The media in all its sycophancy, may hail the N-deal as "historic" over and over again. But what we must understand is US is trying to get India to kneel and say sorry for what it defiantly did since Pokhran-I; for using the Cirius reactor, which Homi Bhabha so cleverly got it done with Canadian and US help, to make the weapons-grade plutonium used in Pokhran-I, and so on and so forth. The US wants India to shut down Cirius by 2010 when it has atleast 10 more years to go. All this and other past bitter experiences we had with the US, clearly indicate that India today is like a Jew saying "I need to be friends with Hitler because he's powerful."
Is it that these two guys got enough from Americans? Have they got no national feelings? I feel ashamed and disgrace as an Indian while reading this article. The terrorists are doing harm to our motherland, that's true but are these two persons any better? Kuttrocci also got his share back. This is a dark age of India. I had deep respect for Dr Singh as an economist but now what I have for him is definitely not respect. India is now a circus!!!
The entire nuclear programme in India seems to be in trouble. When India exploded a nuclear device the world feared India was building nuclear weapons. India has always maintained that, its nuclear programme is for peaceful uses only. And more importantly India has no intentions of developing or using nuclear weapons will not be sign the NPT. The Americans have merely interpreted what India has been saying all along, to serve their own interest. What has been wrong with the past that we have to sign a fuel supply agreement with such strong "ropes" tied to it;now? As it is we wish to develop our nuclear programme indigenuously, then why have we chosen this shortcut. We have large reserves of thorium for nuclear fuel then why have we decided to abandon our effort to extract nuclear fuel. It appears that there are deeper economic reasons are driving our action, and India's establishment has no use for research as an economic activity. This stand is completely opposite to the policy of the advanced countries. By abandoning research we are bidding goodbye to the collective pioneering spirit in search of some elusive economic gain It is a sad day for our country.

When we are not strong enough to save the country (not for effence, as we dont have that courage.)what the use of having all these etc..History is the example where we had wealth but not power and result ..i know our 900 years slavery.See dont be too much in dreams...This world listens to those who has muscle and brain...Brain only cant do anything we need muscle too.Unfortunately Congress Govt is full of you type of people..Thats the reason we still listening you. Bad luck for Bharath maa. You type of people cant give security to maa. Please for India sake keep quie.
Wow..Once Mr.Raghotham stops frothing at the mouth regarding our purported capitulation to the U.S. demagogues, he should try to think through his arguments.
His belief that nukes are an instrument of diplomacy coupled with his idea that we have a \'sovereign right\' to carry our nuclear tests. He waxes eloquent on how Mr. Saran has surrendered to the U.S. state. Maybe investing in nuclear energy at the expense of not having nukes is not a bad idea. Perhaps we need roads, hospitals, energy and education more than we need tactical nukes.
He betrays the same narrow minded hawk mentality that seems to pervade so much of our country. Before we bitch and moan about american hegemony why dont we try to emulate them socially instead of militarily?
Do we really need to test more Nuclear Weapons? I am not sure. Do we need better schools, infrastructure, health care and accountability. I am certain we do.
Mr. Raghotham needs to examine his priotities. Maybe we are surrendering our advantage. But if it means increased investment in the power sector and infrastructure at the expense of a few nukes then I am all for it.
Thank you very much for your comprehensive article poking all the holes in the bill, present government is a minority government and has no mandate from people of India to morgage the future of country. Congress has poor records of keeping the country safe, kashmir, rather than fighting, went to UN, Chinies took over Laddhak and great chunck of our teritory and congress meekly surrendered, Gave away 100000 soldiers to pakistan without any resolution of Kashmir, and after coming to power, repealed POTA, and now sell the county by signing nuclear agreement, no to mention under PMO nose, all the secret war plans wer given to CIA by some greedy Basterds, all they care is baout quota for OBC, devide the country and rule, this governement is doesnt give a dam about the national intrest, it is ourright dangerous. GOD save my mother land. Thank you again.
It is very true that smiling buddha has caused india suffer a lot by giving up everything without any proper understanding. And it is unfortunate that Indian government is still in the same mindset. Mr. Manmohan Singh is saying that no knew things will be accepted but i have a question. Did PM has time to read and understand the agreament? Do he really understand the meaning of leadership and can he make decesions of his own? This was really unfortunate that no one's opinion was taken and it is having lake of discussion during such a big step. Congress must have to take confidence before signing and deciding in such a big step. Otherwise, this will cause more problems for security as well as economy. The reason it can effect economy is because if India do not understand there prime problems like terrorism and will not be able to provide strong answers then economy will definately goes down and security issue will grow indefinately day by day. India should not give up his rights of securing its citizens and economy by any cause. India should not hurry and should have to make clear by making public all clauses in N-deal.
I had been following the development of the Act since any detail regharding it has been made public. What I am not able to understand is the fact that why not all the details of such an important Act had not been fully publicised. Why are they ot in any newspapers in the country. Does the Indian government has a control over the media also; what it should present and what it should hide.
