India and The US
by sudhir on Jul 21, 2006 02:24 AM  Permalink

In all fairness Mr. Tellis worked very hard to make the nuclear deal happenn. He is a strong proponent of strong Indo-US relations. I would imagine he has very positive feelings about his native land, India. The interview was a bit on your face in tone and Mr. Tellis was perhaps being a bit defensive after having worked so hard to make it happen. Re: his comments about the importance of India to the US and whether the US needs India, perhaps we should just take it with a pinch of salt. India is critical to the US and thye US desparately

Its a shame........

i agree with the views of the previous person, this man is a native of Mumbai and the way this interview looks like after reading it shows how such people like this guy Tellis who is born in mumbai and now settled in USA thinks in such a downgrade way about his native place. The city is unfortunate to have been witness to the birth of such people who stop even thinking abt its welfare at the drop of a hat once they are settled abroad. he speak as if the USA is the only country GOD created and so its perfect.

The US does not need India
by Kundan Kumar Lucky on Jul 20, 2006 02:23 PM  Permalink

"We can balance China on our own. We did the same to the Soviet Union."

Words of a confident citizen of a confident country. Wonder if the representatives the Great Indian State are listening.

Why Vajpayee didn't sign n-deal
by Krrish on Jul 20, 2006 02:01 PM  Permalink

What an arrogant cuss this man from India who went to the USA is(for reasons of propriety and to spare insults to his parents, I use a mild word!)! Thanks for publishing this interview. Now we know who has India's interests in mind and who does not. Is in keeping with popular perceptions of the UPA govt.

Misleading headline
by Prasad on Jul 20, 2006 01:59 PM  Permalink

I see this quite often.
Why do you ahve to do this ??
Why misleading headlines ??

The piece tells us Mr.Tellis' views; but NOT why Mr.Vajpayee couldn't get the deal.
