Why does this muslim writer always highlight muslim issues. If I were to write and highlight hindus being killed, people will call me communal. Noone will call this guy a communal. Thats the tragedy of India today.
Biased, muslim-christian pleasing politicians. God knows what will happen.

the problem with you mister is that killings of humanbeings is a humanitarian issue and why do communalists want to highlight "the killings"? to advance their communal agenda or give vent to their perverted sense of injustice. That is different from true human compassion for a fellow human being, regardlessd of religion.the very fact you are highlighting religious identity in a death of a human is sickand disgusting.
It is hard to believe that Muslims are specifically targetted by police and others. On the contrary, I think that they are most loud to give a political color to any misdemenour.
Take Hyderabad for instance. This place has the most chaotic traffic, with virtually no one following traffic rules. However police are clearly biased in favor of Muslims. Most muslims drive very rashly, which is the reason police fears taking any action on them. And thus the whole city sees a chaos on roads.
Most governmental organizations harass people irrespective of religion. But because the harassed individuals are muslims, they always manage to get it heard and gain political mileage. If the govt officials harass Hindus, it is not news!
This article does not help. Myself being a strong believer in communal harmony and being the one of the person who feels bad about any kind of separation between communities still feel this essay is not correct. For whatever reasons if a particular community is suspected by others on terrorsist activities by saying all of them lie or cover the facts does not say the truth. The whole essay gives the impression of majority people conspire to plant lies which is not true by any stretch. it is better we realise that first step in correcting any mistake is accepting the facts and work on them. Otherwise it is only going to help the extremists in every group identified in this essay
While I agree with the comments of most people interviewed here (Muslims are harassed by the police, people are biased, etc.), the only solution to this -- and any other conflict -- is for all parties to stop blaming others and to look within.
So the people of Mumbai need to stop blaming the general Muslim population for any and all terrorism. Media needs to be less biased. But what about what the Muslim community needs to do to reciprocate?
1. Stop sending your kids to Madrassas. Send them to mainstream schools where they can interact with students from other communities. Other kids will know them better. And everyone will understand each other better. This does not mean your kids should not be taught about their heritage -- sure, send them to Sunday Koran classes (like Bible school, Chinmaya Mission's Balavihar, etc.). But not at the cost of interacting with the mainstream.
2. Stop living in your ghettos. Move out into neutral neighborhoods.
3. Don't make your religion your primary identity. Remember that you are a human being first, and Indian next and only then a Muslim/Hindu/Christian...
Rediff is a pathetic site. Enough of this projection of snakes as victims. We all know what kinds of things these mullahs do, including women when police come to arrest terrorists in their midst.
