Mumbai's famous resilience is being put to the test. Government apathy, floods and TWO series of bombings, and the city buries it dead, weeps for a day and moves on with life. The spirit of us Mumbaikars is being taken for granted. While the unity and mental strength of Mumbaikars is simply amazing, it is time for public outrage and to hunt down the terrorists. Enough of resilience, we want answers now. The US is making sure that 9/11 never happens again. Let us not have a chronology of bombings. Enough is truly enough.
How many more articles will it take for ppl to realise thatit's high time they did something to uphold the spirit of mumbai rather than see it being damaged beyond recognition...??
Mumbaikars were called rude... they always seem in a rush... they are called busy. But on days as (un)fateful as last few days, the true Mumbaikar lives the spirit of camaraderie. Its sad that over the last few weeks Mumbai is become a victim of either the nature in the form of rains or due to some people who are trying to harm the harmony of the city. Whoever it is and whatever be their aim.... they can stop the trains or close our shops. They can force us to be in our houses for a day/two or force us to be outside for some time. But there is no one and nothing that can deter the Mumbaikars from bouncing back to life. The spring the step and the smile on the face is assets no one can steal!!!
I am afraid we get carried away by the so called spirit of mumbai in the face of adversities like the recent blasts It is true that whiwle the bumbling govertnmental machinery takesits own time to attend to the dead and injured the ordinary people do their best to reachout to the unfortunate However hours later the Mumbaiker is back to normal which ,means discussing the stock market, the cricket score, or whether the Bipasha - John Abraham rift is final. The families of the deceased are left to grieve silently. How about some financial help for these families? THIS NEVER HAPPENS .WHY? who has the time for such niceties in busy mumbai.I am afraid the frequent bouts of self congratulaton that mumbaikers go into may conceal deep rooted anxieties that the reputation may not in fact be fully deserved rgds ravi
it's sad that those who shud read this article, meaning the leaders, etc.. will not read it. and half of them.. can't .. coz it's written in english. thats the sad state of those who lead us into the future.
HI TO ALL MUMBAIKARS Mumbai is not the rudest city . Based on some survey conducted you cannot call it a rude city . You cannot conduct a survey in which if a teastall owner or a hawker is expected to say the word "sorry" or "thank you" because he hasnt read a word of english or has no education or no knowledge . You cannot conduct a survey and generalise people. When the blast occured it was the scavengers ,the slum dwellers, the tea stall owners, who rushed in to help and give away the last bedspread or bedsheet. I dont call that rude.So all you people ridiculing the city watch out and take a lesson or too from mumbai. GOD BLESS MUMBAIKAR.
When we have everything right from the expertise to human power, the technical know how almost we are unchallangable in many of these things. But still when disaster hits you can't even make a call. Why was the emergency band not opened? or why were not calls connecting? Why the operatiors have even not made an apology to the million population who had to remain tensed for hours? It's high time we ask these questions. Government needs to be real strict . No operators or concerns where human life and needs are not valued should be allowed in India. We need to take this as a challenge and a turning point in the unbeatable journey of India and its place in the world. freinds let's work our best day in and out to make sure our country is benefitiing and thereby each of us do. Goverment do it now or just move out! It's high time now that we utilise the smartest brains and effort for our motherland. If you are an Indian we all love our land and we have duties to our mother nation. This is not just for the common man but even for a 5th grade Ministers (Sorry to mention this way!). no matter who we're,all need to work for it. We need to make sure we aren't to be played with. secure&Strong!
