mumbai and the blasts
by k.r,ravi on Jul 13, 2006 11:01 PM

I am afraid we get carried away by the so called spirit of mumbai in the face of adversities like the recent blasts
It is true that whiwle the bumbling govertnmental machinery takesits own time to attend to the dead and injured the ordinary people do their best to reachout to the unfortunate However hours later the Mumbaiker is back to normal which ,means discussing the stock market, the cricket score, or whether the Bipasha - John Abraham rift is final. The families of the deceased are left to grieve silently. How about some financial help for these families? THIS NEVER HAPPENS .WHY? who has the time for such niceties in busy mumbai.I am afraid the frequent
bouts of self congratulaton that mumbaikers go into may conceal deep rooted anxieties that the reputation may not in fact be fully deserved
