Poor Dr Singh, a helpless pawn in Sonia G's game - so close to the Commies and so far from God! The evil that people do, tend to follow them - Cong demonized the BJP as evil communal 'nationalists', and aligned themselves with the 'anti-nationalists' - Communists and other selfish and self-centered communal parties, who now blackmails them by threatening to bring down the govt, unless their way is accepted. Had the Cong approached the BJP, who are in favor of all the deperately needed reforms, for their support, these 'anti-nationalst' traitors would be sidelined and rudderless - without any bargaining chips and power. 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap.'
The PM has once again proved that he is the weakest to occupy the chair.By succumbing to the demand of DMK,he has sent wrong signals to foreign investors. He should ask the DMK and the leftist parties to tell him the sources from which resources have to be found. What is wrong in disinvesting 10percent from a profit making PSU?Who will buy the shares of a loss making company? The workers of PSU's cannot hold the company to ransom.
It is a shame that nobody cares for the authority of the PM. It is congress culture and the desire to stick on to power that are to be blamed. Karunanidhi is an old wilfy fox who will do anything to get political mileage as well as furthering the interests of his family.(Read Stalin, Maran and Sun TV empire). Look at another incident the so called health minister out with a knife against AIIMS director. WHEN WILL WE CHANGE?! VI
Popular educated behaviour dictates that using words like reform, disinvestment and progressive alliance makes a person really progressive. But this is not the case always. Our PM has studied economics where he has read all metrics which take into account all economists but not the common stakeholders which luckily democracy does. In this case democracy spoke out against educated jargons and jingoism and thus the concept of weakening does not arise, rather our PM now has support of much more people minus the reform parrots. On the record we are yet to see disinvestment benefit any company substantially.
Basically disinvestment is backdoor privatization as in case of BHEL earlier disinvestment competitors and FII acquired major disinvested shares and nominated 2 directors too.The concern by workers and thus its serious cognizance by DMK supremo is most fair and DMK deserves congratulations. It is most serious thst govt is without policies for Public sector which has played vital role in our economic development and even due to such vital role only our private sector grew by massive 50 times before globalization Era.It emplys over 20 lac employees and its share in industrial GDp is 25 % and it pays huge revenue ang dividend to exchequer. Unfortunately it is neglected to ensure privatization at throw away prices. There is vast surpluse in several PSUs . but there is no will to use it in integrated inter and intra PSUs.Instead they are hurriedly sold to private sector which has already above 1 lac NPA. and such family businesses can not take excessive loads.Like west Bengal only unviable units be sold after rehabilitation of workers as per Common Minimum Programme and if such economist P. M. breaks such CMP every now and then, likes of Karunaji need to cross their fingrrs .

Hey, why mix facts with fiction? Who is stopping BHEL from modernizing or improving itself? They have profits, a very healthy orderbook. They can easily invest and improve their production or R&D setup. I do not agree with you at all on BHEL. In general, why is disinvestment wrong? Government's primary business is not running factories. Why should independent directors be considered as some unwanted villains?
Now, 10% disinvestment in NLC would not have reduced government stake into minority. This ruckus by Tamil political parties was basically to keep their hold on NLC Unions, nothing else. Had DMK supported the disinvestment, it would have given other parties some scope to try and breach into NLC unions. Now, this money will have to come from our pockets for any welfare scheme. We will attract less investment, because of overall bad publicity, so we must learn to live in darkness. Without power sector reforms, production can't be increased. Without competition, we can not expect reduced prices for electricity. Without new technologies, cost reductions & efficiency can not be improved.
Unfortunately, most parties are taking the public for a ride with opportunistic acts.
Why can't dr. Manmohan Singh resign from the post of Indian prime ministership and stand as a candidate for the UN Secretary General, because that post does not need a person with a backbone. Sad end to a geat economist.

How about nominating him for to be an US president? Dr.Singh is always good and has to deal with lots of different species called a coalition. Being a spectator, it is hard to understand the mind of an another person. Congress for sure is not willing/ready to go for next elections. They know the cost and consequences. So they are trying to accomodate and keep all the species happy.
