Arent Women humans?
by Padmanabhan on Jul 05, 2006 06:14 PM  Permalink

The subject of whether women should be allowed in Sabarimala, can be debated...depending on each of our perspective to life & religion...But what is disgusting is, that Jayamala is such a bad liar...She should have done some homework before telling such a blatant lie...any Aiyappa devotee can tell you that unwittingly falling on the Aiyappa idol in Sabarimala...IS AS STUPID AS A LIE CAN GET!

sabarimala issue
by Gopalakrishnan on Jul 05, 2006 06:13 PM  Permalink

We, as a believer of hindu mythology we should follow the customs of every temple. Prohibition of entry of women to the sabarimala shrine is not new one and it is a practice from the past. And it is highly objectionable to discuss in the assembly.

I want to share somethings which is quite related architectural facts of sabarimala or temples in kerala as such. The inner part of the temple which is known as "sreekovil" is almost 3-5 feets and only way to enter it is through steps. The doors are so small and maximum two persons can be inside sreekovil that too has to be entered one by one.Ok she is saying that she was inside it due to rush and due to rush somepersons even standing near sreekovil can fell on the steps or get pressed to the sides of steps.Unless If she is not thrown up by someone or pulled by the priest in the temple or has to be olympian to enter the sreekovil.More over she says of touching Idol if it happened she has performed fiction against physics and made facts...And I will tell If she has done it against all hurdles she is the Most purest lady in the world even crossing Mother teresa...

Let belief be belief, customs be customes
by Joseph Mapra on Jul 05, 2006 06:10 PM  Permalink

It appears that Jayamala has totally missed the pot for the pan.

No Entry to women at the Shabarimala Sanctum Sanctorum is a tradition, a custom, and has nothing to do with one's beliefs.

If Jayamala is a true worshipper of Lord Ayyappan, she would have never visited the Shrine, but offered her prayers to the Lord from elsewhere - her home, her workplace, from the street.

I do not believe her claims. Still, if at all she entered the shrine it definitely means she has no belief in the Lord. She was there just as a tourist or just as a companion to her husband.

What happens if Lord Shiva's wrath falls upon the lady, manifested in the form of the circumstances leading to the birth of Lord Ayyappan?

Woman you dont believe in Lord Ayyappan. Hence your touching or not touching the holy feet is inconsequent.

Aren't woman human being?
by Raghavan on Jul 05, 2006 06:07 PM  Permalink

(Continuation)

since a temple is a public place of worship where a large number of people throng , it is only sensible and scientifically hygeinic to impose certain restriction on the entry of women in their periods to the precincts of the temple . the fault is tat it is held to be religious taboo. this makes a mockery of the great hindu religion which is in fact the most scientific , far ahead of its time. It is also an insult to the highly respectable womanhood to hold it as a religious taboo. Nature has reposed great trust in women and entrusted them with the sacred responsibility of propogating and sustaining the human species and in the process they undergo an ordeal tha men are incapable of .So women deserve sympathy and respect in the society and a treament consistent with the saCRIFICE THEY DO. sO THE NONSENCE AND FOLLY OF RELIGIOUS LABEL TO the ban on entry of women of the age group 10 to 50 shall be done away with and the reason for he ban should be otified properly in the precincts of the temple in the interest of everybody. Women themselves know normally when NOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLES AND THEY AVOID IT . They are generally more hygeinic than men.(continued)

Aren't women human beings ?
by Venkateswaran on Jul 05, 2006 06:05 PM  Permalink

The visit to Sabarimal requires the pilgrims to live a certain kind of life for 41 days, which includes daily pooja and temple visits etc. As per tradition in kerala a woman would not enter the temple during her periods and hence it is impossible for a menstruating lady to complete the rituals.

That is the only reason for prohibiting ladies of menstruating age from visiting sabarimala.
All individuals who do not know the reason, please do not make statements of male chauvinism.

Visiting Sabarimala is a holy experience and not a style statement and hence tradition needs to be followed.

Aren't Women humen beings?
by Krishnadas Vasudevan on Jul 05, 2006 05:52 PM  Permalink

It is a matter of faith.

If you believe in lord Ayyappa, you do it and follow the traditions practicing over there. Instead of that, simply saying, that I'm a devote and breaching the code of conduct prevailing over there in the name of descrmination is absolutely immature and a self created heroism.

If any one who knows about the story about Lord Ayyappa won't say banning of Women in the temple premises is descrimination.

Again the question can arise, if women are allowed in side the temple, what will happen? The answer is , as I said in the begining, if you believe in the god follow relegiously, if not why to go all the way to that ayyappa temple located in a dense forest a make such hue and crys.
