For whatever pressures the joint family system is crumbling but it has to survive as it is rooted in fundamental values which sustain human relations in all circumstances. Its a great shock absorber if it goes then nothing can cure its absence.I very strongly advocate not to let this institution collapse -its a bedrock of Indian culture and civilization. well.how convinienent for males to support the joint family system where they don't have to move out of their comfort zones and adjust.if it was indeed such a great tradition, daughters-in-laws wont be leaving such systems.the very fact that more and more joint families are breaking up shows that any system can not survive by suppressing key members.

Sir, But what if the joint-family means only the daughter-in-law sacrificing all the time, no freedom to choose what and when to do, no freedom to meet her own parents at all & bahu's parents are needed only to shell out money for every smallest occassion because that is what the "tradition and culture" of Indian family is? What if lives are decided by astrology- ph calls aren't answered, nobody steps out of the house on amavasya? A house where bahu is servant & no matter how ill she is, she must cook, press her saas' feet, do all household chores and yet be told by the husband you don't do enough for my parents! A family where if the roti is even 1/4 inch bigger leads to people throwing the roti on your face & saying "it's big". Do you still support such joint-families? Kids sure need grandparents but such atmosphere makes yet another generation of "ridiculous" people under the garb of tradition & culture.

A Woman thinks only about herself. Her parents are the only parents in the world but husband's parents are not parents. She thinks abt only her end like "My parents... my brothers .... my sisters...." . I am 100% sure all the men are definitely agree on this.
