For whatever pressures the joint family system is crumbling but it has to survive as it is rooted in fundamental values which sustain human relations in all circumstances.Its a great shock absorber if it goes then nothing can cure its absence.I very strongly advocate not to let this institution collapse -its a bedrock of Indian culture and civilization.
