Let me say at the outset that I am opposed to any form of discrimination against women in any walk of life. Having said that, I am amused by the hypocritical outrage of Mr. patil and other legislators. Will Mr. patil stand up and state his position on the fact that many mosques in India do not allow women inside?
in the hindu society , most of the men irrespective of their education and or stastus in sciety (including castes) irrespective of their profession, including that of preists of temple are REALLY UNCLEAN. Most of hem do not wash their hands with soap after visiting the rest rooms and they piss shamelessly in the open every wherewheres , MOST OF THE WOMEN IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR STATUS IN THE TREACHEROUS SOCIETY DO NOT PIS IN HE STREET AND IN THE OPEN LIKE MEN AND ALWAYS CLEAN AND WASH THEMSELVES AFTER EVERY VISIT TO THE RESPT ROOM. We Hindus should be ashamed of the practice of lack of cleanliness. If we can be in the serveice of God , there is nothing wrong in women touching the idols of God.They are more clean and more god-fearing and honest than mos of the men. They should be posted in charge of the temples and deseve to be appointed as preists in every and any temple . The present priests should be tested to assess and update their knowledge of the entire Rig Veda and the Aamas to ensure that they know at least something about the Vedic instrucions of worship and invoking of Gods.
The time has come to expose the ignorance of the persons in charge of the Hindu temples all over India -particularly the Ayyappan Temple . It is these pwople who have denigrated the Hindu Philasphy. Can any one the persons there in the entire KERALA quote any vedic scriptural authority in any agama for banning woen from entering the temple? Do they really believe in God > Are they foolish not to understasnd that according to God's own words , HE is ominpresent? Do not htye know that God is present in everywhere , even in dirt ? Do they have at least an iota understanding of the Hindu theology and philasophy? Is the Ayyappan temple a private property? If it belongs to any individual hindu crook, he can prescribe any rule according to his whima and fancy contrary to Hindu thought also. but if it is a public property , the KERALA GOVENEMENT should ensure that nothing CONTRARY TO HINDU AGAMAS , HINDU PHILOSOPHY AND CONSTITUTION IS practiced in a Public Temople . DENIGATION OF THE HINDU RELIGION , BY CERTAIN IGNORAMUS shall not be allowed any more . THE GREAT HINDU PHILOSOPHY DESERVES RESPECT AND OBSERVANCE. It should be freed from he clutches of persons who do not know the religion.
There are certain traditions in every religion which are best followed. The 'critics' who question the tradition in Hinduism,do not have the guts to question any such traditions in Christianity or Islam. It has become a sort of 'perversion' with the pseudo-secularists to deliberately initiate controversies involving Hindu temples or Hindu religious leaders. This is also part of their cheap political stunt to be in the good books of the minorities. The tradition in Sabarimala from time immemorial, has been that only men and women in their non-reproductive age-group,can undertake the arduous trek to Sabarimala, after observing the 'vratham' for 41 days. When the tradition is followed with devotion,it is the 'faith' that has the desired effect on the devotee. No non-practising Hindu should interfere in this matter. Devotees who have observed the rituals and visited the Shrine have felt the 'power' of Lord Ayyappan.Women can visit other Ayyappan shrines for which there is no stipulations.Every devout Hindu follows certain customs when visiting temples. It is there in their blood. They do not have to be told. As for Jayamala's claim,it is only her fantasy,or perhaps she was paid by somebody.
this is ridiculous that a women in 21st century can't visit temple this make us hypocrates on one side we pray female as goddess and on the other side a female can't visit temple this is absurd this kind of nonsense and discrimination towards each other should be stopped and the people who promote this nonsense should be thrown behind bars for rest of their lifes
Rejoice - Phew !! At last....at LOOOOOOOOONG LAST , sense has dawned upon on some of my countrymen atleast ! Atleast *some* women and men here have awoken to years of a discrimination that has NEVER been the truth of any lofty ideals of ANY religion but have resulted only coz of distortions in interpretation by certain self-seeking closed minds !!
SO, hope does exist in the land of DURGA , KALI and BHARAT MATA where worhsiping and treating women with respect is basic and paramount to out true vedic tradition !! Yipeeee, Not all is lost !! Not all blood is stangnant water in the descendants of Swami Vivekandanda !
KUDOS !! Myself and every modern young lady whoz motivated to follow only the TRUE Godliness SUPPORT the voice of our conscience in supporting this move ! High time it is !
sir, customs in different temples vary Those customs have sanction of long usage and are reverentially and unquestioningly obeyed by devotees Visiting temples is regarded as an opportunity to shed vanity and egotism and bare one's soul before the Almighty you are required to enter the GURUVAYUR temple bare-chested Even the president of India obeyed At the temple of KANYAKUMARI the priests customarily drop the PRASAD in to the hands of the devotee without touching them A political leader once created a big scene and got street-smart It is all about how faith or the lack of it can make a person humble or haughty Having said that the point to be made is that our temples do need reforms like the famous temple entry reform which began in the very same kerala of those days Everyone can guess how this prohibition of women of a particular age group may have come into vogue It is best to lift the ban and leave thaematter to women themselves to decide when to visit holy places It is ladable that jayamala has decided to revisit the shrine on the day she completes fifty years of age She should be more courageous and advance her pilgrimage atleast by one month-politics support her
It is unfortuante, that she is making a big issue insted of keeping quite. As a film actress she may be doing this for the sake of fame, like the models opt for wardrobe mal functioning. I don't see any defference between Jayamala and those cheap rate models. But she has opted a wrong issue to gain fame, I am very sorry about that. Prasanna
