Rediff.com is throwing all pretence of nuetrality by the way they presented this message board.Congress is as strong as ever in Karnataka.Nobody has any doubts to it.In fact the congress did very well in the recent municipal elections and the withdrawal of support by the JD(S) is only oing to help the party in the next election
Congress is much stronger than BJP in Karnataka.Even though BJP did well in 2004 Elections, the party's performance was very miserable in all subsequent elections and people almost lost faith in the organisational skills of party.I think the developments will improve the party and its mass base.BJP couldn't even win a single District panchayat and the party cadre was very much demoralised.
Congress and Dharam Singh is not capable of leading Karnataka Government. It was sheer luck that even with very few seats ,they managed or rather mismanaged the government in Karnataka.Being a Bangalorean myself,I am sure young turks of JD (S) and BJP will be able to rule more efficiently.
Chances are very bleak for Mr.Dharam Singh to save his Govt. Right from the formation of Govt. the relations between the Cong and JD(S) are strained. After the exit of Mr.Siddaramaiah and the elections to local bodies it is very clear now both the parties can not have honeymoon anylonger. No Govt can function with any harmony if the parties do not have any understanding. Mr.Devegowda himself is responsible form sowing the seeds of animosity. Congress has further complicated by aligning with Mr.Siddaramaiah to win the elections to local bodies. How can Congress expect JD(S) to support it at State level if the Congress decimates JD(S) in the just concluded elections? The writing on the wall is clear that the days of the coalition Govt are over the moment the results of the elections to the local bodies are announced. The Cong should not take Mr.Devegowda's help now but in stead should behave as resposible opposition party. Let hs hope that the new Govt headed by Mr.Kumaraswamy will deliver the goods in due course. It is a fact that it is a serious blow to Mr.Devegowda. Mr.Devegowda should now remember what he did to Late R.K.Hegde when he was PM.
Dharam Singh has annoyed all the bussinesses and made a mess of Bangalore. Changing the name from Bagalore to Bangaluru does not symbolise development, but a sick mental attitude. He and Congress have shown it amply, how an upcoming metropolis can be made into an industrial slum. If Dharam Singh and Deve Gowda have their way they will induct more cows and buffolows into the city to show their sympathy and support to the rural ethos.
