Will the Karnataka congress survive.
by tanveer on Jan 19, 2006 12:21 PM  Permalink

As long a Mr. Deve Gowda is involved in the coalition, i do not see an end of crises for the congress. Its time for Congress to pull out before any further damage is done to the party.

I guess its high time that BJP be given a chance to rule the state. BJP, for a long time has been blaming the congress for poor governance. Let the people of karnataka have a taste of BJP lead government and we, the people will decide the fate of BJP in the next polls. If they rule better definately will be re-elected else thier fate will be similar to what happened in the central government.

K'take Congress
by Yashwant on Jan 19, 2006 12:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The current government does not deserve a recovery. Its been 20 months and I hardly see them standing up to the need of the hour.

I do not understand why constructing a flyover should take years to complete. The pace of work for all the projects is pathetic.

I do not understand how can Sindhia make a statement that hue and cry over Bangalore roads is invalid because software companies do not have reservation policy for localites.

I do not understand Devegowda's anti- IT stand. Possibly he thinks anti-IT is pro-poor which I do not comprehend well. I can hardly recall anything coming out of Devegowda that helps poor.

I do not recall any infrastructure projects deadline being met.

Karnataka being one of the highest taxed state. I do not understand where does all the money go.

Wish somebody could help me understand that.

It is not to say that I am convinced new JD-BJP coalition will do it better. It is just that JD-Congress has surely failed and in the absence of any better alternative they need to give way to new coallition.

RE:K'take Congress
by dinesh on Jan 20, 2006 10:22 AM  Permalink
hope you havent read recent statements by Dharam Singh...It was the contractors lobby that was delaying the work...Dharam was aiming all round development of Karantaka as against the bangalore centered approach of previous govts...and that gave them good rewards as it was very visible to the press and the opinionated ppl who live in bangalore...

Karnataka Crisis
by Rajesh S on Jan 19, 2006 12:12 PM  Permalink

The Congress-AIPJD combine will have to wait for some 3 years for itself to prove in the coming assembly elections. The Dharam Singh Government has fallen prey to the blackmailing politics done by the JD(S) under HD Devegowda. It is better that the Congress Government will fall, because the development has come to a standstill in Karnataka.

Because Dharamsingh was too soft to Devegowda and becaue of that the administration was not strong and corruption prevailed everywhere

Now also the JD(S) is confusing people by saying that son has split the party without Mr. Devegowda's knowledge. There is no JD(S) without Devegowda, and it is notlike the NTR-Chandrabbau Naidu episode in AP few years back. At that time NTR lost support from legislators and Naidu used it for his gain.

Actually this operation by Mr. Kumaraswamy has all the blessings from Mr.Devegowda himself, this was a short cut to make (a very junior leader like Kumaraswamy )him the CM of Karnataka to overcome the opposition from senior JD(S) leaders...And father and son are confusing people by giving contradictory statments. Gowda doesn't want to shed the Secular Image and also doesn't want to lose Minority votes

For all these crises cong.itself is responsible. They want power at any cost, and that same tactics is comming back to them.it seems now people realised cong.In karnataka cong has no future. They always play caste, card religious fury, and now everyone has started, and the master of this game is getting set-back.We in karnataka pray for non-cong.government.please convey........

Allow new coalation to work for remaining period
by G Chaluvaraju on Jan 19, 2006 11:57 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It was the message in the last election that people of karnataka are not in favour of congress to form government even it was not clear edge for other parties, however, oppurtunistic coalation emerged with the long time enemies but failed to get along. Again same oppurtunistic coalation emerged under too immature polatician Kumarswamy. This is the oppurtunity for the congress to exploit the situation and to prepare for the land slide victory in the next assembly term.

Karnataka Crisis
by Anthony Vaz on Jan 19, 2006 11:52 AM  Permalink

Congress is currently a very strong party and this act of the JDS to switch sides will neither help the BJP or the JDS. JDS will be oblivated and rumblings in the BJP at the national level has already made it a weak party. Congress will bounce back, once the assembly is disolved and fresh elections are declared. Congress will definitely get absolute majority.
