Very nice article. However, author doesn't mention his age. That would have thrown more perspective into things.

Lesson from Heart Attack
by Vijay Singh Mahendra on Jan 05, 2006 10:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If you are sesitive, any ailment will teach you something or the other if you grab it. I had an attack as far back Sept 1988 and at that time I used to smoke about 40 cigarettes a day. But after that fateful night I have not touched a cigarette. This may be because of the fear of death or may be my love for life. I have gradually become a lover of nature and look after about 200 plants in my house which I never did before the attack. I got it from my daughter who is a natural nature lover. After a mild attack once again in 1992, I also stopped taking liqour and havenot touched it since then. I now feel that this style of living is far far better than the style I followed before the attack.

Prevention is better than cure!
by B.Gautam on Jan 05, 2006 04:12 PM  Permalink

Though heart attacks are noticed in younger generations very rarely, they are normally found to occur above the age of 40 in most of the cases due to various reasons!
While I discussed about them recently with a cardiologist, who largely held life styles as responsible to such attacks! General inflammation of different parts of the blood vessels is the root cause for such attacks! Inflammations are inevitable as they are result of various interior and exterior activities in and upon the body. Always prevention is better than cure! We can effectively prevent such inflammations in simple ways by restructuring our dietary systems, our daily routines and habits! The body functions smoothen to daily rhythmic activities and hence regularities in all activities of the body are always preferred. We can also add some vitamins and minerals externally after the age of say 40 and above in majority of the cases to control the inflammation effectively thereby prevent attacks! Addition of such noted minerals help during attacks too to prevent their serious effects! Careful continuation thereafter will ensure heart attack-free life!

comments-what my heart attack taught me
by asha menon on Jan 05, 2006 03:42 PM  Permalink

A loud applause....I could feel tears tumbling down my cheeks after reading this. My dad also happened to experience the same situation when he was also admitted in the ICU IN 2000 for heart attack.
And the image that came to my mind as i read this was him lying down in the ICU bed with tubes and pipes all over and me desperetly waiting outside to get a glance of him when the doors to the ICU opens. He was avery healthy person who used to exercise daily, take long walks and maintained a good physique.. the only bad habit which he had was he used to smoke abt 5 cigarettews a day.. i being a biology student used to warn him Dad stop it.. u may get cancer or heart attack..... and he used to smile and say...... There are only chances...
Now after goingthrough such atruama in our life we are very particular about his health...
when reading this article i felt those words were coming from the mouth of my father......
This was indeed a wonderful piece of work...and a good advice to humanity..to realise universal brotherhood and need to take care and love your body.

What My heart Attack taught me!
by bp on Jan 05, 2006 02:12 PM  Permalink

This is an excellent article! I wish everyone gets the message that 'differences' are all man made and even exploited for narrow parochial reasons!
I wish Mr Arpi a speedy recovery.

Reality.....
by Vishnu Varadan on Jan 05, 2006 01:26 PM  Permalink

The article should be a real eye opener to those who are already on the verge of having an attack and also a strong caution for the youngsters who are leading a relatively stressful life
