Hinduism has the best philosophy. But for common man,the practices represent religion. And there are several age-old costumes by which the common Hindu practices religion. One of the most important customs is entering temple to offer prayers. (There are no lectures by priests in these daily prayers). If christians or muslims enter shoulder to shoulder with Hindus just to gawk, it will make a mockery of the whole process.
Every christian, by the very philosophy of their religion, has an inborn desire to spread christianity by hook or crook. But dont forget that Hinduism survived centuries of genocide and conversion by sword by muslims and conversion by authority, misinformation ,exploitation of poverty, disease and disasters by christians and their missionaries.
Why Yesudas want to enter Guruvayoor temple? He is an ardent christian. For Christians or muslims there is only one god, their own.Experience has taught him that he can exploit the gullible Hindus for fame and wealth. Hence the show at Sabarimala. Let him first convert to Hinduism. For him to publicly express the desire to enter Guruvayoor temple, is a slap at every Hindu's face.
Well I think the temple is well within its rights to allow or disallow anybody. If the temple authorities feel that people belonging to a certain religion are interestd only in sight seeing, then it has the right to prevent such people. A temple is not a museum. If i build a house, it does not mean that I allow anybody to enter it.
Before commenting on the practices of other faiths, let us decide if it is even reasonable to compare Hindusim to other religions. Hinduism has been hailed as a very tolerant, embracing and accepting faith and such show of intolerence only contradicts the very root of the religion.
This is a great article that nails the much propagated lie that Hinduism is tolerant and all accepting .If indeed they were all accepting how could they feel the need to 'cleanse' the place of people who worship God under a different name .Granted Christians and Muslims are not known for religious tolerance ,but even they do not prevent anyone from visiting their places of worship anywhere in the world .Hypocrisy is the true religion in India

yes sir, hinduism is tolerant that is exactly why u have made such a sarcastic comment without 'really' offending people.
it is all about sanctity of a place. for example a christian may find it strange why shoes should be removed in a place of worship?
i think this whole controversy is unwarranted and as usual stinks of anti-hinduism. if she visited, being a christian, advertently or inadvertently...what is the media trying to prove? that the place has been defiled. she came there, prayed...whether a christian or a buddhist, she prayed. that should be enough. as for regulations of a place of worship, i think it is an internal matter of the religion & there no need to prove anything...

Attacking hinduism again !. Well, hindu became a religion in the past few centuries once the Muslims and Christians started invading India. Before that it was just a way of life.
I agree that temples must be opened for other religions also. But how many of others will come with the true spirit.Who knows how many will come with bombs ? Remember its just bacause hindus are tolerant, Other religions became so strong now. Good and evil exists everywhere. You are attacking the evil in Hinduism to grab out your greed. C'mon let's talk about the worthy -be it Hindu, christian or Muslim... Religion sucks
