Chicks and Chicken
by Philistine on Feb 23, 2006 01:34 PM  Permalink

Chicks and chicken, anyday the winner is chicken...

chickens dont have mood swings

u neednt take em out for shopping

the only nitpicking chickens do is by themselves

they wouldnt mind u being seen with other chickens

theyre happy go clucky

u dont get beaten up by jealous roosters

chickening out in front of them is ok..

and last but not the least chickens wouldnt call me a MCC (male chauvinist chicken) for writing this

Why I am not giving up chicken

I agree with you.

I travel a lot and i survive because i eat chicken and eggs.

In European and American countries chicken is normally eaten half cooked and eggs half fried and that makes them vunarable to catch this virus.

But in India all the dishes are well cooked ( above 70 deg cent) and i do not see any reason to get infected.

With this fear the prizes of chicken would come down and i would eat all the more chicken -:)

chicken is uncooked most of the times
by harish on Feb 23, 2006 01:19 PM  Permalink

most chicken items with bone are pink on the inside which means it is not properly cooked. so this part of chicken is definitely susceptible. and cmon, dont pass this off as a casual issue; we are talking in terms of thousands of chicken getting affected in nandurbar, not just 1 ort 2. dont mislead the public with such articles

Height of stupidity
by joe on Feb 23, 2006 01:15 PM  Permalink

Who is this guy talking all this bullshit? if he cant given up chicken, why preach others who are trying to be safe... He himself says about the cleanliness in way they prepare chicken. and how is he sure that the chicken is boiled over 70 degrees in the place where he ___?
If you wanna educate people, do it properly. you first know all the facts pls. bird flu affect birds and spreads rapidly via birds saliva and their excretion. When humans come in contact with it, they also get affected with it. and it spreads from person to person very easily... adn very easily in cold conditions... An affected bird's blood is highly potential to spread the virus to humans.. so, when they clean chicken(it at all) in hotels, who knows they clean it properly...

So, its better to stay away from those poor little chicks until there is news that we are safe from the authorities. Claiming that this is a huge loss to the poultry and all is sheer nonsense. just for the reason that the poultry owners should make money, is it alright for millions of citizens to loose their life????
Eet sensibly. Look at better alternatives atleast like fish (if you are a desperate non veggie)...

Cheers
joe

Chicken - eh?
by Maneesha on Feb 23, 2006 01:11 PM  Permalink

The bird-flu is a boon in a twisted sense. Chicken ranks lowest in the yumminess quotient of the endless amounts of meat options available (barring the tandoori versions). For me, I hope all people who have since time anon been stuck to chicken chicken & more chicken, here is a chance to discover some real stuff.

And callousness about bird-flu - well, most of us might not get it but the reason cannot be "I have been eating it forever". Birdflu of this type has hardly been there earlier.

Why I am not giving up chicken

Hi

Its not fair to blame any community or media for making the matter serious. Now world community is seriously fighting against birdflu. The drugs already have in the market are not that much good and they had many side effects. My suggestion is if it really harms or not don't eat .No poultry owner is going to help when you are in hospital and reaching to death.Media is acting right way .

I am worried that he is eating 1 egg a day. I hope, he is not eating the yellow part. I think the doctors recommend 3 eggs/week.Otherwise, it will lead to cholesterol problem.

Author looks like a run-of-the-mill Indian, who does not care about his health. I am requesting rediff not to publish this kind of articles.
