W.b govt biased report not only misleading the truth but playing with the life of innocents farmer. The so called friend of the poor & farmer, now snaching the bread & butter of poor forcefully with govt machinary & cader force.Due to egoism they are destroying fertile land.Had the industry being shifted to a nonfertile land which is still lying unutilised in singur itself, its the people of W.B& govt can reep the advantage of employment & revenue from both agriculture as well as industry. Moreover 1000 acre land is not necessary for a motor industry.Hindustan motors which is one of the largest automobile factory in asia has only 450 accres land, which is also not fully utillised. Its not necessary of setting ancillary unit adjucent to main factory, ancillary unit can be situated 20 km around. In singur there are many nonfertile & lowland which had not been taken for this project. Its the egoism & false claim of buddhadeb bhattacharya & its govt which ruin the poor farmer of bengal. It seems to be cpm moto is transformimg sonar Bangla to Sashan Bangla.cpm which launch movement allover india against antifarmer policy of other state govt now itself indulge in same policy , what a irony .
The report publisjed here is biased and misleading. The West Bengal Government has been ststing repeatedly that the land acquired is mostly one crop land and some are of two crop land. The entre propaganda unleashed by vested interests aims at discouraging any industrial development of West Bengal. May be they are agents of some existing car manufacturers as the TATA's car would take away much of their monopoly un Eastern India. The common people of West Bengal are against the Mamata's stir.
This is akin to building Prosperity for a few over the graves of a million. The most hopeless fact is that our political class care olny about India Inc and its hopeless owners like the Tatas, Ambanis etc etc and the Upper middle class and not for those who are illiterate and poor .Giod help our country
One needs more data than this. Do we have any info on what their incomes are right now and what it would be after displacement?
Secondly, I cannot understand why you say \"WB govt\'s claims busted\". Your report clearly states that the Industries minister has confirmd that these are not wastelands.
Lastly, if one minister has attended I dont see why one should complain that others haven\'t. It is not a fair argument at all.
Great! Now that the position has been made a little more clear, where do we go from here? Agreed, farmers who have depended, perhaps for generations, should not be denied their right to their work and earn their livelihood the way the want to. But at the same time, Bengal needs to achieve far more growth in terms of industrialization. As we can see from the more dynamic states like Maharashtra, Andhra or Tamil Nadu, opportunities for good industrial growth backed by well nurtured growth in agriculture is bound to bring in new economic opportunities to the people, and alter the quality of their life too. I appreciate that we should not palm off productive farm land but a sincere way out is to urgently study acceptable alternatives. Of course why would any industrialist or entrepreneur accept infrastructure which would cut into profits? But would it mean Bengal should lose out on opportunities now and in future, because this would be seen as an example?
Since the Chief Minister means well, may be we should be seeing some visionary solution from him. I will be sorry to see the Steel Plant going away... it would have offered huge employment opportunities. Kolkata needs it.
Hi, this is seen quiet often, when WB tries to develop it's staus in Industrialization the bogus opppositon leaders try to oppose the Govt.Mamata Banerjee herself is a lier & an actress as pro-farmer mentality.WB govt.,a communist govt., who brought the villages of West Bengal after 1977 into the light of development through extensive land reform, are giving the compensation packages(8.41lach per acre of single crop land & 12.75 lakh for multi crop land)which is really an example for rest Govts. of India. Actually our oppositon parties don't want that West Bengal snatches the 1st place in Industry in India. Trinamool Congress are assisting BJP who are taking lands from farmers in Gujrat & other states without any hesitation at lower cost. People of WB gives their support to Left Front govt.giving a landslide margin victory(235 seats out of 294)for rapid industrialization. Mamata Banerjee is trying to mislead common people by giving false data. Good Luck WB left front Govt.!!! shame Trinmool Congress !!! shame Mamata Banerjee !!!
Even though some of the farmers may have given their consent, maybe against false promises, or being presented only the positive side of the picture, the Govt needs to support them. they are uneducated and gullible, consent given by them has no meaning in this context. We have plenty of wasteland in the country and TATA needs to find another place to build their car factory. It is not beneficial for the country to use agricultural land for the car factory, but to use waste land, this will create additional jobs and develop infrastructure in other places.
This Singur fiasco proves beyond doubt that the ruling communists are at best hypocrites. They are a negative force and their speak in national matters is just a facade of 'learned matters'.
The state is the owner of all land within the territory of our country and the government has all the power of acquisition of the same - wahtever be the character of it. West Bengal has rightly acquired the land following all statutory procedures. There is no meaning of raising hue and cry now.
Sky will not come down if Tatas go elsewhere in the country. 997 acres of farm land is a big chunk for any one to give up. The farmer will blow up his compensation money in no time and will land in a slum after his last rupee is finished. If Tatas do not want Kharagpur land, let them go elsewhere. They are very clever. They know the prominent advantages of Kolkata despite numerous disadvantages As rightly said in the last para, industrialisation should not be at the cost of agriculture on which 60% of our population depends.
