Immigration was right!!
by asris on Dec 20, 2006 09:44 AM  Permalink

You cannot forget basic things while entering a country. How can he say he forgot to get visa for his kids when they are not Indian nationals. Yes it was wrong to have given the french national 2 days transit visa on arrival, which he should have applied in france. But that does not make the wrong of forgetting the visa for kids right.

Will France or US permit Indians to land in their coutry if Indians forget their visa. NO. So what the immig. did was correct.

Sad Story
by Rajiv on Dec 20, 2006 09:44 AM  Permalink

It is a known fact that Indian immigration officials are particularly rude to Indians. Though they are doing their duty by not allowing people to enter the country withour valid documents but they can follow a humane approach.

Eye opener.

Such stories makes one reconsider their decision to go back to India. Imagine being treated as a 2nd class citizen in our own country. In fact one can definitely expect better treatment from most of the other civilized countries. It all ultimately boils down to our fascination with white skin, cannot blame others for racism with our own prejudices.

Dont Blame
by Nithin on Dec 20, 2006 09:40 AM  Permalink

Hi ,

Dont blame the indian authorities. They stood by the law. People need to check the Travel Document before they travel.

I think the same will happen if you try to enter any other country without Visa, they will send you back.

I think it was also a mistake on part of French Authorities for not verifying the travel documents.

I think they did their duty
by Manoj Gupta on Dec 20, 2006 09:37 AM  Permalink

Rather than going into emotions, if we look at the matter objectively, it was the stupidity of highest order to assume that the foreign citizens (their two children) would be allowed entry without any visa. Even if I am an Indian citizen, if I am travelling back to the country from anywhere, I still need customs clearance. How can one even think of going without visa/passport? Regarding French citizen, I am not sure if the account given here is unbiased.

Dont cry for mistakes

We have no proof of the french guy your are mentioning. All Indian staying abroad have same feeling like you I am not surprised.

Secondly your children are not Indian, please let me say this why on earth are you taking India for granted. I have visited US and UK many times but every time I go I enure if my documents are in place for atleast 10 time, the why are u taking India for granted. I am happy that the immigration officer has done his duty. Same thing has happened with some of my friend in US of A and they were deinied entry when they had valid visa. I feel sorry for your childeren that they had to suffer for you mistake and attitude towards my country. And sir its not a question of silent sleep, its a question of duty. If that officer had accepted bribe from you and allowed you people inside India it would have been a case for sleepless night for all Indians, because in that anyone can come here. Please stop making a big fuss and hiding ur mistakes.

Mr. Deepkant I would like to educate you and let you know there are no issue with our Indian laws but people don't follow them. In this case the couple could have got the transit visa as per Indian immigration law of not 24 hr or 48 hrs but 72 hrs. What do you say now, hence probably the officer was giving it to the French guy but was not in a 'mood' to give to these little kids whom he thought would e danger to the countrym or maybe the kids did not give him any BRIDE!

I think you have not used your judgement. No body is asking Indian Immigration to make special provision for these peopel. The simple question is: should not the cou[ple be allowed to correct thier mistake and be att he airport for rerasoanble period - perps 24 hourts so that they can meet the legal requirements? I have senn such cases in USA and people (even documented criminals) are given some time. I thnk you should have learned that human considerations make a country great not the blind use of power in your hand.

mumbai immigration deports children
by Lakshman Prakash on Dec 20, 2006 09:32 AM  Permalink

The action of Police is definetely questionable and raises stink. Though we have obtained independance from white skins, the gulami is still flowing in the blood of politicians, police, crooks who are ready to lick the shit and ass of white skins.

The person made a mistake and was ready to produce all documents then why these double standards of treating white skin and Indians.

All these poeple should be punished in public by having someone beat them 100 times with a hunter and this should eb live telecast all oevr world.
