Saiyid Hamid, chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University and former vice-chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, set the tone for the seminar with his remarks: "This is a rare opportunity which will not come again. The Muslim community must fully utilize it. The Sachar Committee report has told Muslims that you are more backward than the non-Muslim, Other Backward Classes of India. We have been officially told now that our place is nearer to Dalits."
Elsewhere, Saiyid Hamid when asked "What is the most important challenge facing Indian Muslims?" replied, "Without a doubt, education. Muslims in the south have established very important professional institutions but they have not been able to achieve quality in them. The world is so competitive and educationally our country is so advanced that unless we Muslims attain a similar standard by dint of organized hard work, we have no future. We have proved ourselves incapable of running our educational institutions and maintaining a high standard. That is the biggest challenge."

Whatever you had said is ok but sachar is a stupid tool of politicians whom are aimed at vote-bank and his report is a garbage, actually.
Anyone can clearly see the socio-economic divide of Muslims is same as of Hindus or Chirstians or Sikhs. So the existing SC/ST-BC-OBC-OC model will rightfully work for good. Doing anything else will sure give the guys a back fire atleast at a coner.
Reservations should be based purely on economics. why dont we just get rid of all reservations based on caste and religion and focus on the economically backward. Only people who are below a certain income braket should be allowed to avail of the reservation. Black have reservation in the US and they continue to be poor by and large. So reservation isnt actually the answer. The government has no spine and it keeps whipping up the reservation issue to take our attention away fro its performance, which is pathetic. Muslims need to help themselves. No community has ever progressed using a crutch. Muslims need to stop having a negative feeling about being victimized and start foxusing on their strengths. Muslims have a great deal of resilience and are incredible artisans in india.
Government cannot do everything. People should first start thinking government can solve all the problems magically. I have many good muslim friends and even they share this with me is, first of all muslims should start sending their women to school and adopt some kind of family planning. Until these clerics don't teach these, they will go way backward to Dalits as Dalits are coming out quite nicely. Voting to Left or Right is not going to solve problem. Thanks Andrew
40% hindu population of 70000000 are poor where as 35% of 2000000 are poor which is more sachar.similary in kerala the hindu population is much poorer than muslims and christains.will you divide your thinking state by state..
why muslims are poor. muslims women population is suppressed in india especially in north and muslim domniated district.. if the govt tris to back log effective there will be fire in india
to protect the muslims and their interests? How are Hindus faring in those countries if they still exist?-or is it considered non-secular reacism to ask such questions. In India at least we do not discriminate on the basis of religon-on the basis of caste of course-reverse discrimination is highest in India.
it is our all indians responsibility to study the report well because muslims are now still liveing backward. for progress of india it should neseccary to progress of 20% people of total india.
Please, take active participate in reolution of new thins in india,we shold welgome that. All minority schools and collages.

as long as muslims seek support from these politicians I reckon they can not move ahead even a single step... muslims need all different laws and now they need reservation in reservation...common u r so weak how can any one help u
I dont know weather to call this a late realization or rude awakning . but I would like to quote Farooqui who told his community, "Don't we need to look above reservations? Why do we need subsidy to go on Haj?"
"Without becoming emotional we must take up the task of development of Muslims in a professional manner,"
Well i would underline the above two lines.that is Crux of matter ,All these years so-called 'SECULAR' parties have "USED" the Muslim community as a vote bank .It high time their Educated leaders help their community to come out Clucthes of SECULAR parties and help them join the mainstream and do good for themself and the nation.
As the Old cliche goes " Better Late then never ..."

As long as ignorant muslims pay heed to the so-called Ulema they will remain ignorant --- otherwise the Ulema would lose all their political power since no intelligent person would listen to their nonsense!
Sachar Committee also pointed out that Muslim's condition is very bad in the states of UP,Bihar,Assam and some other places out of which even one state was/is under BJP's direct rule for a long. It may be admittable that their conditions are better in Rajasthan,MP,Gujarat etc. where BJP is ruling along with COngress for all these years. The parties like RJD, SP, AGP etc. might have spoiled Muslim conditions along with Congress who treat muslims as Vote bank only which BJP was crying for a long time. The argument for the share of muslims in all sectors is considerable. However, Muslims should leave the attitude of following fatwas which play the dominant role in their social life and follow their hindu brothers in maintaining family planning, education planning etc and start thinking on their own but not as per fatwas. If you stop following fatwas, itself may great begining for muslim brethern.
