We care about ourselves only
by rahul jain on Dec 28, 2007 10:47 AM  Permalink

We people always care about us only. When two indians got killed in US a few days back, there were many who posted on this board saying that US govt is ignorant towards indians as well as their is distinction between the US and the indian citizens and lab lab lab. With many mouths many talks, but they forget that in our country, foreigners face much more worse situations. We should appreciate if somebody comes to visit our country and help in the social and economic cause here. Deaths could occur anywhere due to any reason and we should not make it a point to counter attack, instead we should first try to change ourselves and bring the generosity to treat everybody as equal and important for the society.

Michael Blakey's Death
by Fiona on Dec 08, 2006 07:13 PM  Permalink

Whilst on holidays in India in October 2006 my husband and I met Michael, Anna and Rachel in Dharamsala. Inspired by their enthusiasm, devotion and hard work we visited the slum camp and the hostel where the refugee children live.
We were moved beyond words by the work that has been and is being done by the volunteers at this charity and have returned to London changed as a result.
You can perhaps imagine our shock and horror when, only a few weeks after returning, we heard of the apparently random killing of such a selfless volunteer.
We wish to extend our sincerest condolences to Michael's family and to Rachel and Anna and our admiration for his amazing contribution to the lives of people in Dharamsala. I hope that more people will read about Tong Len through this and will be inspired by Michael's life to try to make a difference to the lives of people who have nothing when we have so much.

Michael was a good young briton. many young briton and many young people all over the world has good and high spirit like him. whenever these young people go to another foreign country for noble cause, govt. or local social organizations should provide them with proper security. same thing should apply to even to foreign tourists at a nominal cost.
there are 80% good people like michael in this world. world is a safer place to live even in Iraq during current war there.

Sad loss of a precious life.
by Anshuman on Dec 07, 2006 03:35 PM  Permalink

Indeed Mr. Blakey's death in Dharamsala of India comes as a rude shock to the civilized community and this incident is akin to the "Taliban" happenings where logic and empathy takes a backseat to rage and inhuman attitude. What's more painful is the fact that a Good Man suffers due to these types of barbaric acts; it's indeed sad and more so, a thing of Shame for us in India. I hope Government takes a strict action against those involved and also try to minimize the gaps that are created by these elements between various religions, whatever may be the motive of these elements, they have to be found and brought to justice, "I am sorry britain"; and am saying as an Indian!!!!

Warm Regards,
Anshuman Dave(Ahmedabad)

We Indians take great pride in our culture. Sadly,it's all talk...we do not respect others and sadly, do not even value life. all of us have to be ashamed for this dastardly act. Shame on humanity!the culprits must be severly punished for this.
May God give his family courage to cope with the tragedy
