Whilst on holidays in India in October 2006 my husband and I met Michael, Anna and Rachel in Dharamsala. Inspired by their enthusiasm, devotion and hard work we visited the slum camp and the hostel where the refugee children live. We were moved beyond words by the work that has been and is being done by the volunteers at this charity and have returned to London changed as a result. You can perhaps imagine our shock and horror when, only a few weeks after returning, we heard of the apparently random killing of such a selfless volunteer. We wish to extend our sincerest condolences to Michael's family and to Rachel and Anna and our admiration for his amazing contribution to the lives of people in Dharamsala. I hope that more people will read about Tong Len through this and will be inspired by Michael's life to try to make a difference to the lives of people who have nothing when we have so much.
