How many brahmins clean public toilet?
by mahesh on Aug 31, 2006 06:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The writer has good concerns regarding making India as no reservation country. But sincerity in his intention becomes a joke when he starts comparing it with Cricket. The reservation concept is not a joke or funny thing. Till the late nineties only upper case people used to work in countries like USA, because only they could get into engineering. Atlest to my knowledge there are so many backward village people had come up in life as they could do engineering because there was quota. I was one of them. Only in India there are particular jobs done only by particular community. Public toilets are cleaned only by dalits. Laundry is done only by dhobies. Road construction labors are only backward people. And the list goes on. Any one trying to compare India to forward countries should visit the foreign courtiers first. Every thing is self serviced or automated. No cast based work is needed. Till India reaches such time, reservation is the only solution to provide equal opportunity to poor and backward people. Till, then any one criticizing about reservation is only trying to fool others which will not be possible. Constitution of India is not a joke to have reservation in place.

Dear friend
We are not opposing reservation but don't like the basis of reservation. Once you got engineering degree on basis of caste based reservation there is no need to reservation for your child, you can provide him good eduacation.if you can't do so then what about a poor man belonging to upper caste ?? It is also wrong thig for student who belogs to your caste but his father is not engineer like you. So you don't think about other families these are from same cast but poor ? In india whats going on an reserve category IAS officer also wants reservation for his child it is going on
By supporting caste based reservation you are showing your selfishness only, if it is not like that then you should protest caste based reservation so we can make a great india

According to politician Mr.Lalu yadav (x CM)Mayavati (X CM)and a long list of such type of VIP person and officer are from backward caste also x King of Bharatpur(jat) is under obc.Is it social judstice??
Yes you are right we can't make india a developed nation because in this country after being a PRESIDENT PM CM IAS...... He will remain backward.

My experiences and 2 cents or paises !
by Narayan on Aug 31, 2006 05:51 AM  Permalink

I have studied in a college during my engineering days filled with students who had come through reservation. This is something of a very high magnitude in South especially since every politically major caste has some how carved itself a quota for engineering and medical colleges. It is a staggering 72% in Karnataka. The problem one faces is that the standard of education falls down so drastically without effective participation and this use to happen since the vast majority of the students weren't really qualified for taking such an intensive course. So, the level of education was sort of brought down to decrease the failure. Politicians are so myopic they fail to see this. THis is certainly going to happen in the IITs and IIMs. The current students of these instutions also should realize that their instutions would no longer be reputed as they would once be. Hence, the alumni should voice their opinion wherever possible to prevent the standard in a few of these esteemed instutions from falling. There are several other reasons we should not support qoutas based on caste. For one it provokes lot of anger, division, complacency (among those who have quota).

Time to make India a no reservation country
by deepak on Aug 31, 2006 05:12 AM  Permalink

....Or is a time that our govt. form separate universities and institutions ONLY AND ONLY FOR SC/ST/OBC ETC and keep reservation for nonSC/ST/OBC,these ofcourse in addition to the normally existing institutions,so ful1 justice can be given to the reserved category(i.e.the SC/ST/OBC etc.)and if required our govt. can also have another parallel parliament for reserved category as well!!

I am already paying tax but I am still ready to pay more for removing the poverty but no body looks into it..

As far as polticians are concerned they are the
biggest culprits....my frustation is speaking..

Anyways its a good article and I will make sure all my friends read it.

Quotas every where!
by Hodoo Hunter on Aug 31, 2006 04:00 AM  Permalink

I agree with rajat narang in the sense that we should have quotas in sport, politics etc,etc also. As bc's etc are more in mumber they should rule the roost. Maybe if given the opportunity they have been denied for centuries, they might even do better in all spheres. Who knows! As S.Gurumurthy of Swadeshi Jagran Manch once proudly crowed " The goodwill of the majority depends on the behavior of the minority". How very right. He never would have imagined his own " Hate-Quotes" will be put to use against against his own community!! What an irony !!

Quota System
by Ranga on Aug 31, 2006 03:19 AM  Permalink

You can stand on top of Himalayas and scream at the height of your voice and provide all your good thoughts on improving conditions of the poor and under privileged no one in India is willing to listen, especially any political party. Every politician is hell bent on getting elected at any cost and dont care what a middle class common man goes through every day. On your point to reservation in politics, the same set of politicians did not have a back-bone to bring up Women's Quota bill more than once they are all "selfish", "arrogant" and "money-mongers". There will be plenty of argument on why we should have reservation in this country, however, no one will agree to poverty based instead of caste based, not sure, WHY?

Thanks.
Ranga

What a twisted logic...
by siva on Aug 31, 2006 02:51 AM  Permalink

The oppressed people want life not luxury...
which poor person wants to play cricket .. when they are starving... they want a chance for education to come up in life....

First think of the root cause of the issue.
The need for reservation is hundreds of years of oppression... you cannot stand 50 years of reservation?

Well said
by Nisha on Aug 31, 2006 02:24 AM  Permalink

I applaud the article and very well said. If one is so smart why not score well in the exams and get the seat in top colleges? Why reservations - because they know they can't succeed without it? This should be an eye opener for all those "pro-reservation" people.
We need more writers/people who write the facts and not fiction.

Jai Hind.
