Quota bill
by sbhujanga on Aug 25, 2006 05:17 PM  Permalink

Indian Parliament and Legistilative assemblies are most uncultured, visionless houses and have been making laws of disrepute.
A civilized nation has no Caste or religion reservation when it calls itself secular.
Can Parliament defend the basis of caste and relogion?. These are bad practices of any civilized nation's political system.
Speaking at lentgh on secularism and practicing reservation policy even after 60 years of independence shows how mean minded our politicians are and also it raises the doubt on the system of justice judging it.
It is most shameful period that the counrty has been passing through under present battery of rulers of doubtable credentials.
The nation should understand that calling some body as opressed class and minority and making luring acts has been giving birth to opressed class of tommorrow as todays supression is bound to explode one or the other day.
The political maturity of our politicians is realy low, as at right moment they could not distinguish between the Birth right and Acquired right and thus the person with forgein origin having become citizen only on fiance relationship could now has the right to rule the country.

Bad politics
by Bhartendu on Aug 25, 2006 04:57 PM  Permalink

Leaders need the power at any cost so dividing the Hindus one side they say that they are taking care of socially and economically backward peoples castwise.

If they really want build the nation they should focus on Indians who are socially and economically backward.

But this stupid politics is very dangerous for INDIA and we should think about it and kicked all politicians.

A right decision!
by Harihara Venkatasubramaniam on Aug 25, 2006 04:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Reservation Bill is timely.

IITs and IIMs are run from the money of the people who comprise 60% OBC population. Ever since they were established, they cater to the upper caste students, in the name of merit - merit achieved and attained thorugh favourable circumstances right from childhood. Merit is a myth. Anyone can be meritorious if he or she has got the right circumstances from childhood.

The future of the nation is the concern of not the upper castes alone. But everyone. The OBCs and the government who enact the law, is as much as patriotic as these upper castes who oppose the Bill. The protests are media hype. What, if the OBCs, too, stage counter-protest? They are numerically stronger!!

If the law does not come into force, IITs and IIMs will continue to advance the prospects of the upper castes only in the name of merit. Why should 60% of the OBC allow their sweat and labour to showcase the 'merits' of the children of uppercastes?

The prudent course for the uppercastes, who say they are now being denied justice, is to fund and establish their own Institutes like BITS and serve themesleves. Govt institutions should be for everyone.

Your argument is illogical, to say the least.

1. Merit is not the property of uppercastes alone. I know of any number of other caste and religion people who are fantastic. The question here is of ability to study something which requires high competency. For this caste is not criteria.

2. I agree the upbringing improves IQ. So, one has to help change the basic education structure. Provide the OBC or any other deprived section the best of education upto class 12, prepare them to compete. Giving reservation for higher education without preparing them - does it really help anybody? Does the OBC student cope with the load, assuming he/she had low scores in qualifying tests, and still got to the course only because of reservation.

3. Will you love to be operated by a doctor who is not well qualified? I am not saying OBCs or others do not make good doctors. All I am saying is, if the selection is not by merit, how can these doctors / engineers(whenever they manage to pass the final exams) be expected to provide competent service?

4. What if forward castes create their own niche institutes and train only their community people? Who loses?
Please think before writing.

Service Tax - Co-operative Housing Societies
by Mohan on Aug 25, 2006 04:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is not fair for Mr.Chidambaram and Co. to tax the CHS whose members mostly consist of middle class Income Tax paying law abiding citizens. For these Societies are:
Of the Members
Managed by the Members
For the Members.

Let us all vow not to vote for thise anti middle class politicians in the next election.

Reservations
by Mohan on Aug 25, 2006 04:38 PM  Permalink

Following received by email: Author Unknown.

We should have job reservations in all the fields. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST and so on. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.
Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.
There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians.
Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and politicians.
