IITs and IIMs are run from the money of the people who comprise 60% OBC population. Ever since they were established, they cater to the upper caste students, in the name of merit - merit achieved and attained thorugh favourable circumstances right from childhood. Merit is a myth. Anyone can be meritorious if he or she has got the right circumstances from childhood.
The future of the nation is the concern of not the upper castes alone. But everyone. The OBCs and the government who enact the law, is as much as patriotic as these upper castes who oppose the Bill. The protests are media hype. What, if the OBCs, too, stage counter-protest? They are numerically stronger!!
If the law does not come into force, IITs and IIMs will continue to advance the prospects of the upper castes only in the name of merit. Why should 60% of the OBC allow their sweat and labour to showcase the 'merits' of the children of uppercastes?
The prudent course for the uppercastes, who say they are now being denied justice, is to fund and establish their own Institutes like BITS and serve themesleves. Govt institutions should be for everyone.
