It has been, unfortunately & repeatedly bei'n taken for granted in India that Rules and Regulations stand surrenderd to personal Egoism! Call it plain arrogance connoted with stupidity that one regards in the end, usually as a personal victory. The fact has to be accepted,by those, that the world is not your playing ground. This incidence is a pure case of mockery on abeyance to cooperation, when we all know that the whole world is on a high alert against the increasing menace of Terrorism. The action by the Flight crew and the Dutch Authorities shows the importance given in certain parts of the world to Rules and Regulations which are streched out for everyone to follow. In the end, the well behaved, sensible people form the same comminity are also having to bear the brunt of the actions by an insensible few. Maybe, someone should infuse some sense into these arrested guys on social behaviour when they return back to India!
We heard that the detained passengers were travelling on business for the past 17 years. But the report state that all the passengers were of the age group between 20-30 yrs. Were they doing business from the age between 3-13 years? I cannot believe that these passengers who had travelled earlier so many times could not behave themselves in a disciplined manner that too when the atmosphere for air travel is so tensed. They are irresponsible and they deserve the treatment. Infact they should have been jailed atleast for one month for misbehaviour and causing uncomfortable other passengers. They should be banned from air travelling further. They should have been sent back by ship.
Internationally the Fundamentalist's have become a threat to the world. Also it has been found in a lot of places like Indian and UK that their fellow Muslim brothers, mosques and have been lending support to these activities, either by funding them or helping them in one way or other.
I understand that all Muslims are not supporting this publicly, but then somewhere they do in their hearts, beacuse for them religion is more important than humanity, nationality, brotherhood and equality amongst the world citizens.
It so happens that after reading this article, i tend to believe that our "typicall" indian behaviour had lead to suspicion, followed by detention and enquiry by Netherlands security officials.
I've always noticed, many indians have the bad habbit of not switching off the mobile during take off and landing. Also they talk loudly and often do exactly the opposite to the instructions given by the air-crew.
It's about time we learned out lessons. First step should be to have the current strict procedures strictly implemented in domestic airlines. So, people will develop the habit. Myself, being an NRI, i've been fortunate enough to learn all these simple things quite early. I only wish my other country men could behave appropriately during flights and their stays abroad.
I have had the previlige of travelling a couple of times. I have found that the travel etiquitte lessons needs to be taken up by everyone. We represent our nation in every aspect so lets bear that in mind and travel.
After reading the article "What happened on board KLM flight NW042" I feel ashamed of the 12 indian passengers who caused all that mess. I think they should be punished by Indian Government also. They should be asked to appologise in public for the event.
These kind of passengers need to be punished/penalised as nobody should switch on their mobile phones while on board and they should not move around when the seat belt sign is ON. Treatment to these passengers is justified rather I prefer for a stiffer punishment to these kind of offences as they put other passengers in all sort of troubles. hemant
Just coz of not obeying instructions issued by flight stewards , other co -passengers suffers a delay of 48 hrs.The instructions are made for some reason and one should follow them without hesitating. A grp did not want to follow. Y ? just u r tarvelling in a grp and want to show ur unity/power. But safety is a major issue and watever action A'dam has taken is absolutely right.
The very act of those passengers was irresponsible, much to the safety norms and inconveniece of other passengers. The airline had not overreacted and had reasons to create suspicion at the behaviour of these passengers. In fact, these passengers should have been heavily penalised for causing financial losses and mental agony to the airline, instead of letting them with a certificate that they had no terrorist link and were merely a group of businessmen. Were they not creating panick and terror in the minds of other fellow passengers? It is absurd to call the treatment meted out to them as racial or anti-muslim. Northwest airline deserves our full support for what they did to meet the situation.
