Why can't we be more cooperative at the airport? When security checks me out I always tell them to do their duty properly as it is for my own safety. Think about it would you be one of them to be blown in the mid-air rather complain about the racial profiling. The Americans have tasted it and they are more careful and there is nothing wrong in it. Those 12 persons need to blame themselves rather than Dutch authorities. I agree with others they should have behaved in the plane.
What bull shit. These idiots were behaving like they were on a Mumbai local train. They seem to be some uneducated rich businessmen who have enjoyed a life of buying their way out of trouble through money and power in India. Unfortunately, this time they were in a Western country where you have to follow the basic rules of aviation safety or you get into trouble like they did. They were lucky to be in the Netherlands and were let off in 48 hrs. If they had done their nonsense in Saudi Arabia they would have had their arms cut off or worse still have been beheaded.

26th aug i agree with you 100% Problem is that the TV channels started playing moral pollice role without thought out of 173 passengers comprising of some more indians, only 12 have been identified as trouble makers on an international flight and right action was taken. Even Air India would have done same even with indian aboard as pilots will not take any chances and have no way of knowing if any spy is flying under guise of indin passport holder. if you want to travel, do if you must and with utmost care and respect for the other nationals and carriers. if any law is there to penalise these 12 for disrupting a flight, bringing disrupute and wastage to national time and engagement of our officials, then that should be enforced.
Its not how we look that gets us into trouble, but its the way we behave. In my number of Air travels ive done, i see us using mobile phones when its asked to switch off, People go to the bathroom as soon as the flight takesOff, and conduct in a manner which bring suspicion to others coupled with rude behaviour to the flight attendants. We all know that the times are not good, then why in the world should we bring attention to ourselves.
yes , its true , and will not only continue but will become more prominent .
Who asked you to behave like a freaken idiot in the first place , when you know you are a breaded mulla , who asked you to flash around your mobile phones ???? Be logical man , the religion is haunted and you r actions are only inviting more trouble,
I don't think so. As long as you follow the rules and behave as normal human beings who will pull you up? From the news what I understood is these 12 people were behaving unusual. Passing mobile phones, roaming around, passing gadgets. What is this? When everybody knows you are not suppose to use any electronic items during takeoff why you should do this and get into trouble? That's means they didnt care. Every body should understand the difference between home and other places. You cant behave as in home. In the view of recent terrorists attacks and plans what Dutch authorities did is all right. They cant take the chance and put remaining 148 passengers on risk. Nobody is racially profiled unless you behave or act in such a way that you get attention or you show you are different. I personnaly think whatever happened was unfortunate and passengers had to undergo mental trauma but the people who did this should be tought a lesson so that they dont commit this act in future and others learn the same lesson.
I am a frequest traveller from India to Ireland via Paris/UK and have noticed a lot of times that the security guys / visa officers treat us (Indians - brown skin) as shit. Sometimes I hate to be a Indian and feel very insulted. This is not only during travelling but I feel the same when I am at work or shopping in Dublin (Irelands capital). The people here treats us the way you are never used too and you surely feel bad and out of the crowd. The blame also goes to our own people with cheap behaviour which keep these Europeans away from us. Specially people who come from small villages in India. Friends, we need to upgrade ourself to meet their standards. We cant be always Indian who are 100 years behind US.
Hope the reader takes this message positively. Any ways, I am proud to be an Indian but not proud of few Indian people with their cheap behaviours. Dont know, how they managed to come here.
Make India proud of what you do and let people respect us. We Indians can make things change. Respect every community & Religion. That is what Indian culture teach us. Hope this change in near future. I am coming back soon to India & hope will never be back to such countries. Jai Hind
As a business travellor, I have travelled quite a bit overseas and never had trouble except at Seoul where i was troubled for about 10mts as the passport stamped previous night at Bangkok was incorrect. after my clarification and call to the immigration from Calcutta thru Korean Air from my travel agent, they apologised, and let me proceed to Canada. Indians are disliked in many countries and are not welcome, be it ireland or australia or USA/Canada asa resident/student, earning an income. while we chose to go abroad, knowing risks and treatment that can be termed racial, it is best to travel only if it is a MUST. no one wishes to see you working in a Store/Petrol bunk or even in more dignified professions as a doctor or s/w engineer. You are not wanted and they couldn't care less about yr presence. Yes. You are a necessary part in W.Asian countries including Saudi, but are expected to follow local/airline rules and do yr homework before boarding a flight.
I am just returning from a trip to Germany. While on my way, I saw a group (more than 12 in number) of boys and girls making a lot of chaos, quizing, joking, talking on phone, taking pictures etc. on the board but no one suspected them! It is obvious (recall the memories of any trip with your friends), in a group of friends we speak with high pitch, enthusiasm, happiness, teasing a specific friend in the group and often overlook the rules but it really happens spontaneously for the time being. But doing so does really makes one TERRORIST? In my opinion, that group of traders may be suspected if they were not doing those activities despite being in a group. Now compare that group with the ones carried detruction in America and UK. Intelligence of both the countries failed to get any clue before the operations of terrorists. Appreciable is the crew of flight, detected terror in the smiles of the group of friends! Beard and black skin supported their act of suspect. But believe me, it pains when the name of our country, India, appears in such shameful activities. May God protect India and Indians (whatever religion they belong to) from all evils and keep them away from terrorism.
I read about 12 Indians being arrested in Amsterdam. I am a frequent traveller and I am not surprised that behaviour inside the plane had got them arrested, no matter to what group anybody belongs, it is important to behave in a way that does not disturb other passengers, also the rules have to be followed because it involves the safety of co-passensgers. It is stupid to feel that people can behave as they like and expect the crew to stay quiet specially at a time like this when there is so much threat to Airplanes from terrorists. I feel right in saying even people misbehaving after drinking alcohal should be punished.
To some extent passengers are racially profiled. We cant blame them for doing so, as mostly pakistanis and muslims in general are involving in terrorist activities on regular basis. No airlines risk the lives of 100s of passengers if they found someone with suspicious behaviour. India should also adapt such guidelines for european/american christian preachers who are instrumental in North-east terrorism and also doing hate campaign against Indian culture and philosophy. However, I can understand that our pseudo-secularists cant implement it.
We should remeber that it was not India. In our country we have released dreaded terrorists to plan another bomb attacks. Our terrorism policy depend upon vote bank calculations. NOne in this country bothers about terrorism.
Dutch Govt did right thing. They has the suspiscion and rightly they did all that should be done to clear air of suspiscion.
Under the present circumstances, Every one should be vigilant about terrorism and one should expect more such actions in future.
If Indian Government and intelelctuals have some problem, they should explain nation, how we have recurring terrorist attacks.
