Good analysis
by Jagadeesan Subbarayan on Aug 22, 2006 03:56 AM  Permalink

First of all my appreciation on the detailed analysis and suggestions.

But you forget one important thing, if US stops supporting Pakistan, which would mea it has to heed its ears to India. If happens so, then Terrorism upon India would also be wiped.

if terrorism is wiped from India, US believes India would go on to become Super power, which they doesn't want.

I do not think the administration is ever going to change it stance on Pakistan, atleast Publicly.

Afghanistan: America's Options
by Dinkar Koppikar on Aug 20, 2006 07:53 PM  Permalink

You must understand that America nurtured Al Quaeda and Taliban and other Islamic fundamentalist terrorists in eighties to overthrow secular Afghanistan dominated by Soviet Union. After it succeeded, it hoped to use terrorists to subvert India in nineties and penetrate Central Asia in the wake of the fall of Siviet Union. But these terrorists tuned against America instead. Even after 9/11 America hopes to use these terrorists against India and Central Asia and use Pakistan to prevent terrorist mischief against United States andGreat Britain. But such foolish strategy is bound to fail. Today more than ever before American foreign policy is driven by Oil companies which expect to use terrorists in their drive for monopolising world energy markets.

Afghanistan:
by keshavachari on Aug 20, 2006 12:52 PM  Permalink

US force should definitely stay in Afghanisatan in order to protect Karzai Government and stop Taliban from coming back to power. There is no doubt that ISI is indirectly providing support and encouraging Taliban to destabilise democratically elected Government of Afghanistan. Afghan President has pointed out this several times. President Musharaf can be considered moderate but he has become weak and unable to control ISI\\\\\\\'s covert activities. He is very sincere in following Turkey as a role model.
It is very unfortunate that Western powers is not willing to see the real game plan of ISI.

US intentions are neither "laudable" not "noble"! They are as guilty as Pakistan as far as Taliban is concerned. It is the US who nurtured Taliban during the cold war to weaken Russia.

I don't think you need to be such an ardent supporter of the United States..They are no angels! US is solely responsible for creating all the unrest in the MiddleEast and thereby exposing India to more terrorism.

America in Afghanistan
by S. Rajiv on Aug 19, 2006 11:52 AM  Permalink

The picture is beginning to look like the US in South Vietnam, and the situation is also similar in nature. Will we see the US Ambassador running for a helicopter, a la Saigon ?
Time America underatands Asia and learns who are it's friends, and who is fooling it. America is the proof of the adage that "you can fool some of the people ALL of the time'.
Musharaff has to be told clearly that his time is running out, and China must bew persuaded to stop helping the Pakistani's with nuclear technology. Will this take place in our life-times?

Afghanistan: America's options - what about India?
by Bobby Mahal on Aug 19, 2006 09:23 AM  Permalink

While the author put forward good and credible thoughts and arguements about US's "state-of-denial" in Afghanistan, don't you get the feeling that he and a majority of us are in the same phase of mind over Kashmir - a state-of-denial?

Why are we so afraid to have an open debate about the Kashmir issue and why is that anyone who does raise the issue is quickly branded as unpatriotic or worse - a paki. Why do we have blinders on and not discuss options for Kashmir - as providing subsidies, appeasement, and the presence (and cost) of an army deployment doesn't seem to be solving the problem. Why then can't we have a sensible debate abt it so that the Kashmiris - Hindus and muslims - can get a semblence of a chance to live their lives in peace?

Good work....make sure that delhi parliamentary mafias read this analysis
by Jatin Patel on Aug 18, 2006 09:28 PM  Permalink

Dr Subhash Kapila:)
Are you saying that india is dumbocrazy, worlds largest one, with sardar mohan as chief of operations for delhi parliamentary mafias. With DO NOTHING policy, india is following in foot steps of pakistan to pamper the taleban community vote bank, making indian muslims as peace of token.

Sir - Indian muslims should demand end of pakistani occupation from entire J&K and restore it to the maps in every police station. Indian muslims should join to eradicate article 370. If 90+ % of indian muslims fail to do so today, india has gotta problem which sardar mohan & his mafia congress party fails to understand. Needless to say the rival hindu mafias are no better either. After all they all are mafia brother in parliament doing NOTHING, for people of india.
Understandably, meek, SC/ST/OBC, ram janmabhoomi wallah and CPI/marxist mafias feel incompetent to represent india as a force to recon with by striking decisive blows of impact on roots of terrorism both home and from neighborhood and the same mafias make indians day dream of being SUPERPOWER. What a concept of democracy (read dumb+o+crazy)?
