Justice V.R.Krishna Iyer's thoughts
by Suresh D. Koondaje on Aug 17, 2006 11:11 AM  Permalink

A brilliant exposition. But his shock at arming ourselves seems totally mispalced: if India were ill-armed, Pakistan would run over this country in no time.

Money and Education
by gajanan on Aug 17, 2006 04:50 AM  Permalink

Justice Krishna Iyer's comments on money being used for education for everything and anything is valid globaly also. Almost all countries , there is high fee structure now, with many European countries also trying to do that. The recent change in France and the ensuing riots ( even though related to age in employment , the core issue being raising fees. This is the effect of globalization. You feel it more in India because a huge student population is competing for education. Almost all activities including research ( 70%) is market driven. The best article on the state of affairs in education was written by David Suzuki in "Invent for Future" book titled " The Prostitution of Academia"

Youth can change India
by nadeem on Aug 17, 2006 01:44 AM  Permalink

Justice Krishna Iyer seems to be a man of principles. But principles find no place in indian society today. No socialism and the country is heading towards height of captalism. The politicians are no socialists working for uplifting the indian society, they are captalists whose only objective is to fill there pockets. For that they can make two indians fight with each other. One indian has no faith on other.

Youth can change
by Md. Yazed Alam Khan on Aug 16, 2006 05:15 PM  Permalink

A great article is this!!! Splendid!!! This country's future is bound to be changed at the hands of the youth. The old politicians should be thrown away. In place of that, a govt. run by the youth with a generous and modern outlook should be installed, so that everyone be treated equally in the eyes of the Govt. Are we just dreaming or in reality it is possible? The future can answer the very best.

A socialist's Laments...
by Dharmendra Goel on Aug 16, 2006 03:51 PM  Permalink

PKl. Aug.16th , 2006 Wednesday.
Well Justice Krishna Aiyyer was and continues to be a brilliant Socialist activist Judge. Now he is 91.
I may not be either A Nehru or Gandhi Enthusiast ,but surely I do share his Anguish in despair about the home-truths about wealth that greases corrupt hands in our assinine democracy ,as the British Bull Dog Churchill once vitriolically
surmised.Of course the gentleman was a tory Imperialist. But we the nationalists ,Secularists, Gandhians and Hindu Nationalists have let that old tory have his last laugh on our foibles...
Is there a way out Krishna , like you ,but much lesser person who dreamt of Bhagat Singh , Azad, and Subhas' spirit of militant socialism and egalitarianism instead WOGS flannelled Democratic Socialism agree our younger masses should reconstruct this Polity out of our Agonies and Dreams..Constitution and Ballot Boxes are instruments of perverse elites of this unfortunate

Feedback to Mr. V.R.Krishna Iyer's interview
by Shiva on Aug 16, 2006 12:03 PM  Permalink

Mr. V.K.Krishna Iyer's negative comments about Mata Amritanandamayi's followers are deeply offending. Being a respected citizen, his totally baseless remarks can negatively influence the upright among the society. I am one of Amma's countless followers who do selfless work at Her hospitals, schools & other institutions. We personally get involved in handling food, cloths, pensions, houses for the poor & numerous other assistances like providing free vocational training and employment to many young people at Amma's various institutions. Amma constantly reminds us that we should love & serve our Bharath like our mother. We took Her message to our heart, renounced our comfortable jobs, homes & started staying with Her in small rooms with the bare minimums & simple food. If you read the biography of Amma, you would truly understand Amma's greatness and why we serve Her. Here, we do everything following Amma instructions. If high fees are imposed for Med.education, there may be a reason for it. That could be one way thru. which money from the rich flows to the poor. Call Amma a modern Robin Hood if you want! So, Mr. V.R.Krishna Iyer,we invite you once again to Amritapuri ashram.

youth and educated class must awaken
by surinder kumar on Aug 16, 2006 11:39 AM  Permalink

Politcal class as a whole lacks vision and has only goal in mind to some how come to power and stick to chair. they have no love lost for the Nation.this class considers itself above law and encourages their party followers to resort to unlawful behavior to show of strenght. thousands of people are ecouraged travel ticketles in railways for various rallies by their bigwigs; but have they ever pondered on this issue; the inconvinience to the legitimate commuters; the loss to the exchequer. why should they as it boost their ego.
the youth has to come forward to arrest this malice and stop associating themselves with such events. the educated class has to shelve their lethagy to keep away from the polling both.
