Nepal democracy
by ramgopal krishna on Apr 21, 2006 09:14 PM  Permalink

The people of Nepal will ultimately throw out the king and have democracy. India is doing great by simply watching without intervening. The king should not try the patience of the Nepalis, lest the King and his family are destroyed in the uncontrolled violence. Jaswant Singh`s visit can only be for winning favour with Hindutva Hindus in India.

In India we have done away kings, after Independence. Multi-party democracy has flurished.

Nepalies are Hindus !!.

Nepalese are very disciplined people. They are also very nice people. I visited Nepal 10 years ago. I was stunned by the proud Hindu feeling.

It is a pity that India, did not help more recently. But the strong bonds with Indian people will flourish.

Let Bhagavan help the people of Nepal !!!

Let the people of India help bring Nepal grow well with India.

Is fear of democracy a right question ?

Is fear of Democracy- a right question ?

Given caption i.e. Why India fears Nepal democracy does not gel with the content raised on the subject.
Fear of Maoists, inert Indian Government, developing unrest, Nepalese getting together irrespective of caste and creed are very vital variables which have been touched upon.

Indian politicians have been insensitive to even hostile neighbours, hostile elements within country, what to talk about neighbors. Only vote politics has been of paramount importance in all their decisions. Same is true for Bureaucrats, Strategists, Indian community at large. There are so many issues of development for Government, Parties, Indian community, business priorities, GDPs`, appeasement of communities ensuring next vote for them.
Nepal has been the most ignored neighbour.Always a friendly community. Governing Royal family hardly was worked upon for pragmatic reasons or strengthening democratic system. Their adherence to Hindu rituals has always misled the whole Nation. Maharaja of Nepal, Prince of Nepal had enough opportunities to work for the cause of people. But royal hangover has come in way, and never, let them operate for enrichment of people and State.

We have been worried all through for Pakistan, cultural exchange etc. etc.Painfully, this area, relationship, working for induction of democracy there, diplomatic patronage as a big brother- this Government has never worked upon. This reminds us of Mrs.Indira Gandhi, the way she led the country during Bangla Desh struggle for freedom from Pakistan. People talking of Pro activism on front of Kashmir and Pakistan seem to have ignored Nepal altogether.

Even role of, impact of rightist forces remains a dark area. We do not know what the impact of their working if any is. Right question will always be is the System operating in interest of common being, their welfare?. If not, will inducted democracy work? or again a worthy administrator needs to be installed so that negative forces can be controlled and positive sentiments for building the nation can be infused.

So let us identify the right question instead of finding the right answers for the wrong question. Media needs to play pivot role for creating awareness and build a friendly Nation.

the difference between india and china
by nanda chandran on Apr 21, 2006 07:46 PM  Permalink

is that while china's leadership want to promote their country's interests, india's leadership is busy promoting their own interests.

so who has the time for geo-politics?

thus even the only hindu kingdom in the world is not under india's influence.

we and our global/regional power pretensions!

raja of nepal is not monarch as understood in west. he is under rule of dharma. democracy is farce and raja system as that was in bharat was time tested system. if nepal falls in to the hands of 'reds' under the guise of democracy it will be worse than pak. problem.

I think India SHOULD send its troops to control the immediate situation for peacekeeping. The condition should be: Once stability is arrived at, the King should restore democracy. This will help our friendship with nepal as well as prevent the Maoists. Otherwise, if the Maoists come to power, we will be at MUCH more a disadvantage than that of having helped the king.

This article is exaggerated.

Situation is drifting towards chaos but a people revolt or maoist into power is a very distant possibility.

Nepal should merge with India!!!
by Satish Gundawar on Apr 21, 2006 05:57 PM  Permalink

Since both countries share same culture, religion etc, Nepal should merge with India. The King of Nepal has this only good option. He and his family will be safe with this decision.

Indian government also should try convincing King of Nepal. People of Nepal will also support this move as they see India as big brother. If Moist win the power in this power struggle, India will get one more enemy on her shoulder.

dear sir,

dont worry! we will have another hostile neighbour in our neighbourhood. bangladesh, pakistan, srilanka, china and now nepal. Bangladesh, nepal, pakistan of course are under active control of ISI. we may have to put another border like the one we have with pakistan. it is imminent. It is time we also should be prepared for retaliation. recently indian labourers, businessmen have been thrashed and kicked out from nepal as per news reports. china and pakis are actively behind maoist upsurge. i am surprised at the kind of brutality they are showing during their attacks on nepalese army. we have to be on our gaurd.
