Is fear of Democracy- a right question ?
Given caption i.e. Why India fears Nepal democracy does not gel with the content raised on the subject. Fear of Maoists, inert Indian Government, developing unrest, Nepalese getting together irrespective of caste and creed are very vital variables which have been touched upon.
Indian politicians have been insensitive to even hostile neighbours, hostile elements within country, what to talk about neighbors. Only vote politics has been of paramount importance in all their decisions. Same is true for Bureaucrats, Strategists, Indian community at large. There are so many issues of development for Government, Parties, Indian community, business priorities, GDPs`, appeasement of communities ensuring next vote for them. Nepal has been the most ignored neighbour.Always a friendly community. Governing Royal family hardly was worked upon for pragmatic reasons or strengthening democratic system. Their adherence to Hindu rituals has always misled the whole Nation. Maharaja of Nepal, Prince of Nepal had enough opportunities to work for the cause of people. But royal hangover has come in way, and never, let them operate for enrichment of people and State.
We have been worried all through for Pakistan, cultural exchange etc. etc.Painfully, this area, relationship, working for induction of democracy there, diplomatic patronage as a big brother- this Government has never worked upon. This reminds us of Mrs.Indira Gandhi, the way she led the country during Bangla Desh struggle for freedom from Pakistan. People talking of Pro activism on front of Kashmir and Pakistan seem to have ignored Nepal altogether.
Even role of, impact of rightist forces remains a dark area. We do not know what the impact of their working if any is. Right question will always be is the System operating in interest of common being, their welfare?. If not, will inducted democracy work? or again a worthy administrator needs to be installed so that negative forces can be controlled and positive sentiments for building the nation can be infused.
So let us identify the right question instead of finding the right answers for the wrong question. Media needs to play pivot role for creating awareness and build a friendly Nation.
