what Hindus or Muslims
by arifmoazzam on Apr 11, 2006 11:14 AM  Permalink

hi everyone..

It was great listening to everybody's comments .This prolem i feel is particular to our Indian diaspora where ppl are not at fault but their leaders are so fanantic about there regional and religious affiliations that theyu forget that tey are part of India too.In India everybody is first a hindu a muslim or a maharastrian and Gujarati and then may be later an INDIAN....

why dont we think that be it hindu or a muslim he has a family bACK HOME .. a caring mother who cares as much as a hindu mother would do..

a sister who loves her brother similar as any hindu sister would do ...

But we have so much of time at hand that we listen to all crap offered to us by our politicians...

I even see many of our friends offering funds for all this fanantical cause ...what RSS or VHP is doing is no hidden from neone...just divide and rule ...perhaps british rule was not that dangerous as the hidden agenda being pursued bby these organisations...

lets unite and defeat this policy and build a better and free India..lets give justice to people who suffered in Guharat riots or those who were incarcerated in '84 sikh riots ...

lets rise above all thsi petty politicking..

Discremination is and will presist
by uday on Apr 11, 2006 11:13 AM  Permalink

Its that we all are such different in all respects that we are not to be expected to do things normally.

We have been divided by the Brits then came independance and the subsequent Govts. and politicians divided us even further. If only we understood this and came close without our being stiff in our beliefs and retuials like plaing of late night loudspeakers etc and holding cross cultural meetings will only brings us together.

We must understand that our politicians and our neighbouring countries want one and the same thing a weak India so they can easily do as they like.

Its time we understod their policies.

The role of a hardliner rasist hindu (Atul Kulkarni) in the film Rang de basanti goes a long way in showcasing as how these people are misled and the only way out is for us to bring them from darkness to light.

Religion bias
by Krishna Kumar on Apr 11, 2006 11:12 AM  Permalink

What the author has mentioned is true. This is the fall out of dividing the country based on language etc. Looking from another angle the cultural differences are so high the two neighbours of two different communities would find it extremely uncomfortable to adjust. On the Bakrid day probably the muslim neighbour would like to cut the throat of a goat as a ritual to the total annooyance of the neighbour. Likewise on the occasion of holi applying colour to all and sundry may be resisted by Muslim girls. So there is a cultural divide which a common man may find it tough to adjust. Even i wonder when would we come out of this and start looking at all indians as one!

Its WE who have to change it....
by Divya on Apr 11, 2006 11:12 AM  Permalink

As far as bangalore, i found its cool to stay over here. They will mingle with you and accept you as you are....

It totally depends on the previous experience with the people as we all know "first impression makes a lot". If you are hurted by one person of some community for no genuine reason definately you try to avoid them.

But we have come out and make them realize all good has a little bad to make it GOOD..

Living among Hindus
by Ajmal on Apr 11, 2006 11:12 AM  Permalink

Its shocking!! We speak of Developed India, India 2020 and these incidents are like stains. They will rust our dreams of developed India. Where are we heading for? To glory or to eternal doom?

RE: Why I won\'t live among Hindus ?
by Sparsh on Apr 11, 2006 11:11 AM  Permalink

Sometimes it irritates me. What actually the author wanted to convey? Hindu extremists ??? difficulties in finding house in Mumbai? or communal problems in India?
If u ask any ur counterparts in Hindus, they will come with the same problems abt Muslims. Give me a break sir, stop blaming only hindus. Blame all those mulsims as well who are responsible for all the disasters happned in last serveral years.
Aside from difficulties u found in getting a house in Mumbai, i guess, u have a valid reason to blame hindu extremists(at least for not getting house). 100% justified. but take some time to think of other hindus who experienced hell after Babri Masjid demolition or think once of Kashmiri Pandits who lost their homes. Think of all those people who lost their loved ones in several blasts in delhi and mumbai. Think once.
Think of people who died in Mumbai riots? were they all muslims buddy? No.
Even i bet that no hindu would like to stay in Muslim locality.
I have several muslim friends too but still, i would not like to stay in a muslim locality. It doesnt mean that i am scared of them but i want to protect my loved ones.
