Stop complaining - Go to the Poilice station and register a complaint against this person.
next go to the nearest MLA / MP and complain there too.
Only then can you hv a solution. Act like what an ordinary indian would do given this situation- act against such discrimination rather than accept and feel self pity
Muslims are not here to be accepted, sorry they are our own part. If nothing else go to a newspaper or better TV guys they are waiting for such events
We have had enough trouble with Muslims who left us trying to live seperately - division generally does not help - I am talking about pakistanis.
I think this article is a complete sham, the guy has generalised a one off experience, and btw i am sure they are more muslim localities in all of india and specifically mumbai where hindus are not welcome, this guy should realise that based on a few localities and few fundamentalists on either side, dont label a city like mumbai bad or good.
I think mumbai is one city which is more tolerant to all religions than any other city in India.
I read & understood your feelings. I too agree that these incidents are spoiling the integrity of the nation. But the same time, you felt that this is happened only to Muslim families. But it's not like that. Hindus also suffered in that incident. Both the comunities suffered in Coimbatore bomb blasts too. To bring the unity Everyone in the society should think that they are Indians and they have to serve the society irrespective of their religious. To satisfy minority people politicians are ignoring the majority people. Minorities are supporting those politicians and stating indirectly that we are way ahead then majority people. Can anyone say these kind of benefits been given in Pakistan for minorities. There minority Hindus are not having any moral rights to ask for it. If anyone is having real talents and come up in his life and serving the society (whole India) means we are the one respecting him first. Pls Remember our H'ble president was nominated for that post by BJP becoz of his service to the nation/society.Gods are same. Human minds are differing. Hats off to Mr.Kalam. He has set an example for others. We lost hopes with the politicians. But 've enormous hope on president.
You are right, mumbaikers need to change their mindset, but first you got to change yours. You said you have a rule, not to live in hindu locality. You broke that rule just because you cannot afford a house in the 'upscale muslim' locality. Probably the hindu there also had a similar bad experience or doesn't want any riots to occur in the future. He has not got a chance to break his rule, because there are hindu buyers. By the way, joining the mainstream as an Indian doesnt mean living in an 'upscale hindu or muslim locality'. It is a true feeling from within, that you are an Indian by virtue of birth and blood. No one one could ever stop you joining 'mainstream India' if that feeling is sincere enough. And when that feeling is sincere, there are no complaints about your country, there are complaints only about issues. Every culture, region and nation has its drawbacks, you should try to change those, but should never disown it. Hindu-muslim riots is a very sad part, a black mark on all of us, but how about the sunni-shia riots that happen so periodically? Didnt you think of a new rule to live only in an 'upscale shia/ sunni locality'and joining muslim mainstream? Sincerity!!
Such articles though may reflect the genuine thoughts of the writer are I'm afraid not in a broad social interest and negates the efforts for harmony among different relegions. Although not amounting to inflammatory sentiments, it definitely carries a negative impact. I am sure there are plenty of Muslims who wouldnt mind living among Hindus and vice versa. Rediff should encourage publishing those titled "Why I dont mind living among Hindus" instead.
