With all respect to you sir I will advice you not to discriminate on the basis of religion. Because of some people you can not blame the whole nation. We all are Indians and I guess you have forgotten this fact. As you mentioned India is multi cultural and multi religious so are people. I must emphasise people are always different, be in Delhi, Mumbai, New York or London. We prefer to live with people of our own kinds. We develop ourselves in individual personalities since childhood the way we grow up. We feel comfortable to be with people of our own kinds. Let it be eating, language or life-style. Do not forget in all riots people from many religions get killed. In 9/11 not only non-muslims but muslims also got killed. We need to change the way we want everything for ourselves, try to think about the pleasures of giving and pleasures of tolerating, you will love your life anywhere on the planet. Try to make agenda of the issue that all the Indians must follow a common law and no personal laws for any community. We are responsible for each and every thing happening in India, we Indians. If you think you are an Indian respect the feelings of other Indians instead of critising them.
first i wud like to congratulate you that you were vocal enough to write abt this issue..however if you look at broad picture you will find such hatred everywhere..in all communities..its not all who think on those lines but few and people like you who get to know/suffer it first hand needs to bring them to media/public ( police is as shitty as those who told you that a muslim can nt live in hindu society) so they understand..
I am still proud of multi ethnic India and will always be!
It is hard to say what shocks me more - the irresponsible attitude of your article - all it takes is a few ignorant and intolerant remarks to make you think of yourself as a Muslim and not as the educated, responsible mediaperson/citizen you are - or the unbelievable replies you got which terrify me about the future of this country. That there are people in this country - which was built on unity, secularism and non-violence - who can even think like this, let alone take the trouble to write it is a shame. That they are obviously intelligent and educated enough to write good English and handle a computer is what shocks me the most. A real slap in the face for education, which teachesus technology but neither the lessons of history nor the spirit of our nation.
And most of the blame for this horror goes to educated people like you. How can you whine about intolerance when you won't do anything about it, and it frightens you so easily, and you have no solution to suggest? Why don't learned people of all religions spread awareness to prevent the shocking misconceptions in the replies you got? you can reach millions of minds and enlighten them, and you waste it with a negative messag
